Just because I gear check for bfd and gear check for wsg premades does not warrant 5,000 pms about what a disgusting and pathetic person I am. This hyper casual anti good at the game culture is turning really toxic. I am advertising for LFM geared good wsg. After sifting through all of the all of the pms saying “LMFAO imagine gear checking in sod. It’s classic bro…” pms I get a priest who says “inv”. I say “geared”? They say “yeah” Then we get into the bg and they have all greens no neck no trink 1 ring… so I kick them after and say “sorry man no hard feelings your fear is just trash” bc they are getting 2 shotted by bfd geared rogue. They immediately pm me saying “dude are you serious bro… wtf man I thought we were cool. That’s actually messed up…” And then my whole premade freaks out and disbands after calling me scum for kicking him
Like… I am a nice guy but I also like to win. Can we address the toxic casual culture in the game rn

I don’t think gear checking is necessarily bad, but so long as you’re not aiming for some absurd parameters, it’s fine.
I do think the simple fact you have a coordinated group likely going against PuGs allows that factor to be less a focal point than those who are actually good at fighting.
you know what I did? I worked hard to make sure my gear was as good as possible before entering the raid. we only went 3/7 my first run through so I made sure to go get the morbent fel helmet and some other dungeon pieces to make me a stronger tank next time. Next time in and every attempt thereafter I’ve gone 7/7 with pugs.
people mad about gatekeeping just want to be carried and not even get the most basic minimum requirements of gear to allow them to succeed in the raid. dont expect to just get in the raid the second you hit 25, go get SOME gear.

Lol, you can do you but know you are contributing to one of the most toxic trends that ever emerged in wow. If you’re being realistic and accepting prebis etc that’s not so bad, but I have a feeling that you’re likely not.
Pvp premades are a problem in general. It’s not like you’re ranking or pushing rating. Why try so hard to make the game easy? If that’s what you want to do, join a guild of like mindeds or a discord. Don’t spam trade and not expect backlash for a clearly controversial action.

I’m curious if you know what is actually really good for EACH class VS pure gear score? Do you have a very good understanding of all class builds and abilities?

I mean really, they just need to add the group building system the have in live - implemented i think in Legion? The system used for M+. Very convenient listing system, super great for applying for and designing your own groups. Sure you get rejected from more groups, but you get to apply for many more than currently available in classic. This would address your complaint in many ways given people would be less desperate for your group specifically as their eggs would be in multiple baskets.

Everyone wants the path of least resistance, they just don’t want to say it. For raids and WSG, that means bringing the meta comp, best geared and fully experienced players to ensure that there is no challenge, no wipes, no adaptation required between zoning in and getting the loot / win.

It’s your group and you can do what you want. But I dunno, how about using language that doesn’t include the word “trash” lol. It’s like “hey I really enjoyed the date we went on last night but the bottom line is, you’re just ugly. no hard feelings. have you considered losing weight?”
Also, a lot of people have literally no idea what BiS means for varying specs they’ve never played before. My gear is all either BiS or pre-bis aside from a +4 int neck I could buy for 70g off the AH (not doing that, so I’m wearing a sentinal neck that gives a couple stamina because I’m worried if dummies see me wear a green they’ll get pissed – other than that there’s no caster neck pre-BFD so I might as well not wear anything).
I’ve cleared BFD like a zillion times at this point. But I had a PUG leader kick me when I joined because he said I “only had 1600” mana. I was like, my dude, balance druids don’t even gear for mana. So if you’re gonna gear check at least know what good gear is, rather than just glancing at gear color/missing slots and HP/MP values.

It’s classic. All the gamers are pushing 3k IO on retail rn. I’ve found classic to be the most toxic gatekeeping culture for a game where mouth breathers can hide their skill at the game behind a resourceless class and world buffs.
