Totghast community is aweful

there was a monk last week who came in guns blazing with the same attitude as the op.

once we’d calmed them down and got them to explain their issues, people were able to give them the guidance required to succeed.

they even came back to make a lovely thank-you thread

Well, give you the benefit of the doubt and share with you some tips.

1.) Don’t go in with people who are also having trouble. This sounds contradictory to normal advice, but more people having trouble means the trouble compounds itself. XD Try asking if someone will show you the ropes and run it with you.

2.) Interrupt and learn what to interrupt. The DBM plugin that Saichoses mentioned will help out but a little trial and error will go a long way.

3.) Don’t brute force through bad. Some of that bad will one-shot a tank. Especially if you don’t interrupt enrages and buffs. Some rares even have debuffs that last through an entire run. Move. XD

Rest is learning how to make do with what hand you’re dealt with Anima powers and how to play your class.

Hope it helps.

I’m glad y’all handled that when he changed his attitude!

This guy just needs to git gud.

I blame carry culture for so many people having trouble with Torghast. (Not counting the well-known class imbalances)

The overworld scales (quite brutally in SL) to everyone as their ilvl increases. EVERYONE needs those rewards, because the entire game is tuned around it.

Quit with the “if you’re not doing the hard content why do you need the gear” rubbish already. It’s a false equivalence that makes no sense in a game where everyone, no matter what their skill and gameplay style, needs to progress or they’ll just be done.

And you know what happens when millions of people are done, right?

WoD. That’s what happens. More than five million gone. Such utter carnage that Blizzard hasn’t reported sub numbers since.

A lot of people have short memories.

Haha, well meme’d, friend.

Torghast should be easy as Unholy. Try blood if you’re still struggling

If it is the last boss, you might be hitting the enrage mechanic, certain layers and up elites have a stacking buff to prevent tanks and healers from cheesing. One that buff hits, I think 10 stacks, CC is a no go and the abilities will quickly down even the toughest tank.

As a Paladin tank I find Torghast a bit long, if a breeze, when I pull smart, I had some luck with groups but others, well, “go go go” attitude wound up running us into a brick wall, one group I had was even almost all out of deaths before even clearing floor one of layer 5 or 6 because DPS kept pulling mobs giving us more to worry about interrupting or dodging.

Some of it might be “get good”, some of it might be against the style of a class or spec (I had few issues solo as this paladin, but it did take a while hence I tried looking for groups just to bring more boom). But the biggest thing to keep in mind is buffs on the mobs, especially the bosses.

Yeah. Easily did layer 6 with my Blood. A little limp on damage but nothing a good DPS trink off WQs or table missions or some good anima powers can’t fix. XD

Torghast isn’t easy as shadow. It’s not impossible, but it’s not easy. I switch to disc instead. Slower but ensures I won’t get screwed over by the last boss.

And followers. Have gotten 4 of them out of there so far, including Meatball yesterday.

I thought you were talking gen chat for a hot second there. Torghast gen chat IMO has one of the best communities thus far. People will help you if you ask nicely and if you pay attention you can get some useful tips.

If you can’t solo Torghast, I have two pieces of advice for you:

  1. Join Acherus (Death Knight Discord), read up on your spec, and fix whatever you’re doing wrong. If you can’t kill the floor 6 boss fast enough, there’s more likely an issue with your talents/conduits/rotation or you’re just getting/choosing crap anima powers constantly.
  2. Run Torghast as Blood.

I haven’t had much issue on any of my characters in Torghast. I’ve died a few times but just be clever with your anima powers and you’ll be fine. lol

I don’t go beyond layer 2. I’m pretty l33t, I know.

You can

A. Give blizzard money and PAY to Win Torghast with gold from wow tokens.

B. * DONT RECOMEND* Give some 3rd party real life cash to clear it for you when all the layers are open, Just open group finder there are 100’s in there.

C. * DONT RECOMEND* Search for Exploits. ( Like the Invisibility quest from maldraxxas campaign)

D. Wait for better gear, Or PVP for conquest gear.

E. RNG till you have the right anima powers.

F. Run the maw till you have Unlocked enough goodies to give you options.

G. Swap to a Easy Torghast Class. ( i know but my main)

H. Deal with the insufferable group finder

I. Come back in 6 months (farm gold- from the blizzard shop) Then buy better gear.

J. * TOTALLY RECOMEND* ( would be hilarious) Pay the 500-$1500 dollars advertising fee and put a billboard up right outside the blizzard offices Complaining about torghast.

K. * DONT RECOMEND* Keep making posts and twitter complaints, on as many free wow accounts that you can stand to make, so it seems like thousands and thousands are complaining, think you can pay a company to do this. Prolly Russian bots.

L. Find a girlfriend/boyfriend get them into wow, and have your own personal pocket healer or easy torghast class to help you with your DK.

M. Find a Torghast community, in the communities finder.

N. Learn to multibox ( without the software of course)

O. Calling it here im Getting bored , but know this i could have went all the way to Z!

Its difficult so say thank you when people are nothing but rude. 3 people have been nice enough to help out. The OP was just about finding a group. Not being carried, not the fact that I can solo it, just that I wanted to join one of the many groups that were forming. Everyone took it in their own direction, and no one was anything but rude. Put me in my place? No, you were all just childish and rude.

After the first response, I thought I was going to get a conversation, then their next post was an insult, followed by insults from many others. I was upset in my OP, but not going off as if Torghast was the worst thing in the world. Immediately the first responder began the jokes because for some reason, even though I’m in level 60 gear, they refused to look at my profile and began treating me as a troll, leading many other sheep to do the same. “Oh, you’re on a character you dont play.” This has been the only character that I have played, but continue treating me like a troll, and give zero advice.

All I was doing was venting some frustration, and looking for help, but all I got was your normal neckbeard WoW heroes, being super tough on the internet. I have been a solo player since most of my friends left in BC, my list consists of 2 people, and my guild is there for chat. I’m not looking for a carry, just some social interaction in game. People always assume the worst, even when they are told otherwise.

Thanks to those that actually gave advice, and didn’t use this opportunity to make their E-gos bigger. What would I expect from people that prop their lives up on being better at video games, as opposed to real life skills? I remember why I dont look for help with people that have no reason to have any kind of manners towards one another (my initial insult was to Blizzard, not those I thought would be helpful).

lol?

Your point? I was upset, and I was more than happy to take advice. My second post was part of that taking advice, then it deteriorated into people being rude. Maybe the game is easier for someone with more free time on their hands. I have been asking for help, and all people want to do is bring up my angry rant at Blizzard. What is the point of seeing that exact post for the 3rd time? Do you have any advice?

go blood and faceroll through it with absolute ease?

edit: you are necro too… get every anima power that buffs your covenant dot… it absolutely MELTS bosses
