The removal of totemic mastery as an idea (having four totems down that help us considerably) really bothers me to no end.
The art team went through a process of ensuring Shaman got racial versions of the totems, and this artwork is hardly ever used…meanwhile racial druid forms are constantly on display.
Please figure out a way to incorporate totems in the toolkit, even if its just visual aesthetic. I want all 4 of them down…I want to see the totems. They are part of why I rolled a shaman 16 years ago…Figure it out…
i second this. Everytime I drop my totems I literally stop and admire them lol. I do this multiple times a day when playing, especially since the visual changes and uniqueness they made. I need them out!
I’ve never understood why our spells can’t just passively proc our totems. Like why flame shock damage can’t have a chance to summon a searing totem that blasts FS targets. Or why stormstrike can’t just proc a windfury totem so we don’t have to constantly resummon it ourselves (like is the current case on beta).
I second this as well. My entire journey as a shaman began with me earning my totems. Now so many of those specific totems are just gone from my base kit. It sucks.
I still like my draenei shaman totems visuals. I would love a glyph where using a totem creates visual copies of the other elemental totems next to the totem you dropped. Drop Capacitor Totem: phantom fire, water, and earth totems. Drop Grounding totem: phantom fire, water, and air totems.
Totems as pets. They follow you, you feed them or they do less damage and have a chance of running away, you can put them on passive or aggressive, and you can tame different totems. Sound good?
This so much. I see the fire totem by my side every time I look at my character on the character select screen. But i dont have any. Give me back my fire totem buddy. I want a totem by my side at all times.
Make it a talent. Personally I do like the way it is now. There’s about the right amount of totems, and they all have a pretty good reason to be dropped, they mesh well with our toolkit.
I can understand that some shaman wants MORE totems, all the time, everywhere. All for having a talent that does that. A shame they removed totem mastery for those who loved it. But please, dont push that on everybody >.>
I’m not pushing maintenance, buff, or utility cooldowns. I am pushing incorporating the totem art into the toolkit at a higher level than what we currently have.
Even if its something visual like having a totem summon from each element when you enter combat (like how Worgen get forced into Worgen form). If you get X yards from the totem visuals, they reset and start at your new location. Make these versions untargetable with no name tag to not confuse with ability totems.
Having 4 totems down is iconic, even if its just a visual aesthetic with no gameplay tied to it. Its a waste of some very beautiful artwork.
I understand, but even when it comes to visuals, I think the current implementation is fine. 4 totems out at all time is too much, in my honest opinion.
That’s why I think a talent would be nice, that way everybody can get what they like?
You only have to go back to Blizzcon and they were saying about bringing back the class fantasy. Now we have less totems going in to Shadowlands then in BFA with the removal of Totem Mastery.
Personally I’ve become tired of totems but that’s probably years of having them destroyed in pvp.
I think there should be two totem categories, ones that are visual and aesthetic and cannot be killed, and others (larger like Rokhan’s Spitting Serpent Totem in Arathi Basin warfront) that serve as cooldowns and are killable.
In my fan redesign, I expressed how I’d ideally do totems.
