Totemic rework : some ideas

I’m not an English native speaker but I will do my best to share with you some ideas for Totemic.

I really think this Heroic Talent needs a rework. As everyone said, it’s just impossible and very frustrating to play it properly because of all the mobility in the game right now (PVE and PVP).

I mainly play in PVP so I will talk only about PVP.

---------------- I. But first of all: about Heroic Talent: Stormbringer

I just tested on the PTR and all the recent changes are really nice.

However I have noticed some minor changes to improve maybe.

** Surging Currents :** on the PTR, when you cast Tempest, you increase the effectiveness of your next Chain Heal or Healing Surge by 20%. If you don’t use your Heal, your next cast of Tempest provides you 20% more (up to 100%).

Note: I think it’s not very effective and the talent should increase your next Heal by 50 % for example. And then, if you don’t use your Heal, your next cast of Tempest provides you another Heal empowered by 50% and so on.

It’s better than the current PTR version which increases the power for only one Heal by stacking (20/40/60/80/100%).

---------------- II. Heroic Talent : Totemic

1. Surging Totem: Summon a totem at your feet for 24 seconds which gives you « Surging Power ». As long as you stay within range of the totem (either 20 or 30 yards + Totemic Focus + Oversized Totems), your Lava Lashes create a Tremor which deals XXX damages. Also, your Sunderings create a Tremor at 200% effectiveness at the target area (Earthsurge talent here).

Note: Of course, with this new talent, we should be able to trigger more tremors. That’s why the damages could be reduced a bit.

2. Whirling Eléments : This talent is like a « hold-all » and imo doesn’t fit very well with the soul of Heroic Talent Tree called « Totemic ». I hate the fact that it boosts « random » abilites after summoning the Totem… then… nothing more.

For this last and deeper talent in the tree, I think we need a talent which fits more with our totems according to the name of « Totemic ».

And because of the huge nerf about our wolves and P-Wave, I suggest to replace by :

Totemic Maelstrom Overload: From now on, summon a totem grants you 1 stack of Maelstrom weapon.

Also, after being summoned, your Surging Totem creates a discharge every 6 seconds (reduced by haste) which grants you 1 stack of Maelstrom Weapon.

Note: it works with every totem you summon, even « passive » totems like Totem of Wrath (PVP Talent) or Searing Totem.

3. Reactivity: Whenever you cast Lava Lash empowered by Hot Hands, the cooldown of Sundering is reduced by 1.0 second.

4. Earthsurge: Casting Sundering grants you Hot Hands for XX seconds.

5. Totemic rebound: Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, Elemental Blast and Lava Burst has 100% chance to unleash a Surging Bolt at your Surging Totem, increases the totem’s damage by 10% and then redirecting the bolt to your target for XXX Nature damage. The damage bonus effect can stack.

Note: Stop with RNG please : we will never cast like 15 times during 24 seconds of the Surging Totem so it’s OK to get 100% chance of proc.

Also, it would be nice to add Lava Burst for players who play with Tempest Strikes rather than Elemental Blast : then, maybe change the bolt dammage by fire dammage (why not).

6. Oversized Totems : + 15% size and radius OK

But + 30% HP is not worth at all.

For example : 30% HP bonus will never save Counterstrike Totem or Tremor Totem from being destroyed by enemies.

And about our totems like Surging Totem or Stone Bulwark Totem, enemies will never focus them because these totems are strong enough even without the talent.

Instead, maybe the talent could reduce the CD of our totems by 15% or whatever (any ideas ?) but 30% HP bonus is just irrelevant.

7. Searing Totem : this totem doesn’t count as a real totem.

For example : the talent Winds of Al’Akir requires at least 3 totems active to boost move speed. That’s why Searing Totem should count as an active totem.

Therefore, Winds of Al’Akir would be easier to trigger (Surging Totem, Searing Totem, Earthgrab Totem etc…).

Or maybe just change Winds of Al’Akir by providing 5% move speed for one totem active.

8. And other long-standing requests at least for PVP (lack of mobility, lack of “instant” CC…)

Hex : instant cast by spending 5 stacks of Maelstrom MAXIMUM.

Astral shift : usable when stunned.

Thunderous Paws : remove all snares and roots + immune for 3 seconds (30 seconds CD instead of 20 secs currently) + don’t trigger it automaticaly after using Feral Lunge would be nice
