Both guides from wow head and icy veins totally omit ascendency.

this is why ascendency should work like ret paladin wings and activate every 30s with the use of a certain skill
Totemic doesn’t press Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning often like Stormbringer does. Totemic still prefers Elemental Blast at 5 targets rather than Chain Lightning because Elemental Blast does more damage in any target. Totemic wants LL instead of SS due to Reactivity and HH talents line in raid and M+. The ascendance line is the opposite of what Totemic wishes to do and can’t play that.
In S1, we took it due to the Storm-style build and the fact that two of our hero talents were not really good. So nobody played an Elementalist style build, AlA Fire build.
This season Totemic was fixed, the talents work very well now, and Elementalist Fire builds are back! So going down the right side makes no sense as Totemic. So no Ascendance.
