I switched from MyRP to TRP when I saw TRP was putting in a feature to see names in the world (not mouseover nameplates, names over the players’ heads) populated by the person’s RP name and icon. I have yet to see this work on anyone, and I refuse to believe it’s because no one on my RP server is using TotalRP.
Can anyone provide illumination upon this? Do I need to tick a less-intuitive box or install something secondary? I recall reading that this feature works with a specific other addon’s functionality OR with base WoW UI in-world names. There’s no way I just haven’t seen another TRP user in months.

I just want to say I had no idea they added this, if so, that’s pretty neat. If I return to the game in a couple years, I’ll be looking forward to it. Hope you can get it to work! I use TRP3 myself, most that I know on my server do so.

Huh! That’d be cool, but that’s not anything that I’ve seen. It might also be inconvenient-ish to find out the real character name if you needed it for friending or whispering purposes.
I’m pretty sure that other addons that I have would interfere, though.
Update: The box I had missing was to have friendly nameplates visible, and always visible. It’s a bit screen cluttery, but worth it!
I went to their discord to learn this, apparently there is no forum, but thank you for pointing me in the general direction!
