Total confusion on blacksmithing skill

Hi all, on my blacksmith, I have weaponsmithing, hafted, axes all maxed out. When I look at crafting an axe, my skill is only 216. I can add Illustrious Insight and Stable Fluid Draconium to get to 246 + 22% chance of extra 63 skill. How do I increase this further?

If I put a point in Maces & Hammer or Blades it says gains +1 skill per point in this specialization. But does this mean +1 skill in any weaponsmithing, or just +1 in crafting blades or maces? Or should I just be maxing out Hammer Control. Either way, the professions seems ridiculously slow. If I need to max out Hammer control to have a decent chance at a 418 weapon (I have concentrated primal focus), then I am still weeks away… I can max out my m+ weapons to 415 today running low keys. Professions just seem completely out of whack.

i havent looked at the BS prof trees, but usually whatever the node says it increases is all it increases. from what ive seen on most of the profs is that one of main tabs at the top has 1-2 generalised skill nodes that increases all skill for all items by +1 per point. so i would suggest looking through it to find that one

Your last generic skill increase is Hammer Control.

The specialties are only for those types of weapons. Maces and Hammers increase maces and hammers. Axes increase axes. Et cetera.

Also, Poignant Plans will increase your Inspiration for all BS crafts.

Hammer Control. Every profession has its “generic” tree (which should have been open by default when you reach 25 skill.
