I’ve seen people saying this a lot whenever anyone has complained about the drop rate for Torrential Fragments. Siren Isle has now been out for three weeks. In that time, I have:
- Upgraded my ring to 649
- Done every single quest
- Got the “Isle Remember You”, “Siren-ity Now!”, “Clean Up on Isle Siren”, and “A Chor of Citrines” achievements
- Repeatedly killed rares every day
- Done a fair bit of general mob grinding on top of everything else
So far, I only have one Torrential Fragment.
The drop-rate is abysmal, stop apologising for this nonsense.
Edit: I also have about 20K flamekissed iron. I think you need a max of 85K to buy everything. I’m easily going to run out of stuff to do and buy before I get even half the fragments at this rate. Having to endlessly grind mobs in this boring zone for a minute chance at a drop is Classic-level nonsense.

The quests, rares and achievements don’t mean anything. You only get them by killing mobs in the Storm.
I got 10k iron and 6 shards in two hours last week hyper farming the mobs outside of the Forgotten Vault with a 5 stack. Farming mobs is part of playing the game. You can either do it optimally or sub optimally, your choice.
Weird how there are zero complaints about Alunira even though that drop rate is even worse.

I suspect there’s some change to the drop that we’re missing here, starting just this week. Too many people are split between “I did it in a few hours” and “I can’t get any at all.” I know the Thunderous Fragments changed this week, because they now just drop from the gold secret treasure chests, no longer the ones under water (which now only appear out of storm phase and don’t hold fragments).
I’ve killed mobs in the storm phase for three days now and have not added a single fragment to the one I had Monday. I’ve killed everything in sight with and without the giant robot and special weapons. I spent two hours today killing skeletons and everything else where Zek’ul spawns. Zero fragments.
Maybe the mobs need to be farmed while the weekly quest is active? While in a group fighting Zek? No idea. Any ideas, discoveries, or insights are welcome. I have the other four runekeys but am no closer with this one.

Been facing the same issue. Have been trying to collect them for the last few days. This is what I think I have determined based on my experience (I have collected 4 so far):
- I think they may have pseudo “time gated” the drop, wanting it to take a week to get the mount, and you can only get one per day (why they have the odd stack requirement set at 7)
- That daily clock is likely set to the Daily Quest reset
- I have only ever gotten 1 per day, no matter how much I farmed (spent over an hour trying to get a second one with no success). Most days it drops for me pretty quickly. Today I had my doubts about the one-a-day theory… but eventually I did get it after 30 min or so.
- I have gotten them off of the storm trash mobs at this stage, the crabs around the camp, and the skeletons on the southwest of the map. I have not gotten any off of the rares or elites
- I have gotten them while in the mech-hard suit and also without (and not in any group, just playing solo).
I am now doing this search in the storm in parallel with obtaining the “Mystery Meat” drops for that other daily, which is quick to do in the suit. I usually get the ‘daily’ Torrential drop by the time I have collected up the meat.

I’ve seen a few of these as well.
You have to be in the storm. I got three the first week and one each week since. I only spend 30-45 minutes in the storm per week. They are the only fragments that I still need but not going to fret about it too much.
I wonder how many people are killing mobs outside of the storm phase and wondering why they don’t get more drops.

this drop rate is horrendous. especially given how easy the other keys are to obtain.
been on the beach for 3 hours killing skeletons and gotten 2. this is super boring. Not sure why this couldn’t be increased

took both me and my wife around 90-120 mins each to get our 7. we were in group together just killing those vrykuls on the beach. would of been twice as fast if we were in a 2x4 groups to cover both of the hyperspawn locations.
since then we have been over there on alts for weeklies and both have deleted at least 5-10 each cause we no longer need.
I joined a group in the storm phase farming mobs outside the cave to the vault, got all 7 shards in 62 minutes.
RNG is RNG. WoW has always been a game with low drop rate items for mounts, this isn’t anything new.
They can, it’s just going to take awhile. I’ve got like 2 so far and I’m not even trying to collect them.
I don’t get the purpose of making the drop rate so bad for these. The others just dropped with no hassle. These, I’ve farmed for 5 straight days for hours per day and only have 2. TWO! The drop rate for one of these seems to be even lower than a rare mount drop.
I guess blizzard is resorting to scummy business practices again. Remember how Plunderbust was only a limited time and the t-mogs were going away. But, Blizzard then slapped everyone who farmed those straight in the face allowing the same rewards as the first time. I didn’t do it then and won’t do it now. Can you imagine farming that mode for hours and hours for a limited-time item to only have Blizzard make it available again?
Blizzard, you don’t need to resort to scummy business practices. You have a dedicated customer base and we WILL do stuff you give us. Gating stuff like this MEH mount…SMH

They are pretty abysmal but being someone who got “the insane”, its not all that bad. 
What I did was kill crabs around the island, ignored the northern shore since I never got anything there.
I killed squid rare every single time he spawned AND his surrounding skeletons. Important step. There.
I got most of my frags from the rare and his skeles, 4/7. And the remaining 3 were from misc crabs, usually close to town.
I think I averaged one every 45 minutes doing it this way.
Crawler mines in tank spec seemed to be the way to go. Mass pull, use mines to aoe nuke.
I’ve been to siren isle almost every day I’m still stuck at 3, which I got the first couple of weeks.

I had what I thought was all but one. So I fished during the storm and got a whole item that didn’t need to be combined. I was soooo excited, thought I got what I needed. Ran over to get the mount, clicked on all the pillars and nothing happened. I was so stunned until I realized there was still one pillar that was still to click on left. 
I guess I got mixed up. But it was kind of sad.
So every time I go into the room with the mount that dark pillar is mocking me.

I would suggest joining a farm party or making your own. This past Monday I joined a party outside that cave on the northern shore (storm phase) and had all 7 within about an hour and a half, maybe slightly longer. Given the drop rate that itself was pretty lucky, and I know that, but I got to watch others finish their grinds before me and had to keep the farm going myself after they were gone. Fragments kept dropping all the while. Had 6 of the 7 in about an hour. The final fragment took the longest because of course it did.
Follow up - ok, i’ll admit it. i was wrong.
The farming method works very well but you must be in the storm.
They started dropping like flies in a group…

I got it ALL in 2-3 hours of farming with a 5 ppl group. Northern shore, Vrykul zombie hyperspawn. Must have killed 7+ of that crab rare.
The first drop took 40-50min.
It’s mind numbing and should be changed though.

I’m stuggling. I got some friends to buy and start playing WoW with me. We all went to Siren Isle to get this mount as a team. All but 1 of us got the mount. The last guy literally has looted hundred hidden storm chests w/ ZERO new Thunder Fragments. And he has 2x Torrential fragments left to get, but hasn’t seen 1 drop in over 24 hours.
The crazy thing is I finished the quest and then went back on an alt for science and got the mount unlocked a 2nd time getting all the fragments… Is this really RNG trash or is he bugged? Seems like impossibly bad RNG. I’m trying to get new blood into this stupid game and Blizzard design is tilting the crap out of these people. He’s been grinding non-stop for at least 14 hours so far between the last 2 days.
