Don’t have the fox mount yet? The invitation dropped for me today in a nightfallen emissary chest. If you want that mount, the emissary is still up tomorrow. Watch for when it comes up.
I’ve deleted about 5 of those things.

But when it finally did, the Nightfallen made it rain invitations! (RNG, you bite!)
Nearly every alt got one!
The Cloudwing Hippogryph, is a totally different story. Farondis must really want to get rid of them as he’s pawned off three or four of them to my characters.
They sell for a copper.

I’ve actually deleted many myself. And I have characters that have one permanently taking up a mission slot because reasons.
But I know some people have never gotten the mount and still want it.
At least they have a vendor value now. During Legion we had to take them out behind the barn and shoot them.

All my Vulpera ride the Fox mount before flying.

Man… I’ve run that stupid scenario probably a thousand times across my characters and STILL do not have that thing.
It’s one of the few mounts I actually really wanted too.

What crafting mats are you getting from a Nightfallen Emissary chest? I only ever see gold or order resources, wakening essences, and sometimes a piece of gear.
Don’t give up, man!
Remember that the invitation can be looted from any chest in Suramar!
And, like the OP said, it can also drop in the emissary supply chest. So if possible, funnel the rep tokens from alts into one main!
