Just recently decided on a druid main after switching around for over a month (oops). I am curious, which spec do you guys step into Torghast with? I was thinking balance for pure damage, but am worried of being a squish ball. Maybe guardian to stay alive, but will be missing out on that sweet deeps.
Don’t feel bad. I literally spent the entirety of bfa hopping around trying to find a main only to try druid in sl pre patch and fell in love.
As far as torghast goes, i like guardian. I use balance for all group content but i loathe kiting and being squishy so i do solo content as a bear. If you aren’t compelled to face tank everything in solo content balance is fine, but def bear is beefcake. Also depending on anima drops, bears can do really swell aoe dmg while being almost unkillable. Having said that, balance isn’t like mage squishy, so dont panic on that.
Thats been my experience so far. Hope it helps and welcome to the best class
I am feral on my main and use that spec in torghast. At 185 ish ilvl I don’t have issues clearing layer 8, especially with convoke. I have an alt druid with Kyrian covenant that I’ve been playing as balance and find torghast much more challenging. At 160 ish ilvl I can barely do layer 6 and comes down to the powers I get.
Balance with good anima powers melts down bosses. you should pick correct talents.
Tree ,instant heal, mighty bash., resto affinity
you should use. treants are helping a lot when you are in danger.
with resto affinity regrowth + swiftmend heals 20k+.
if you have correct anima regrowth can heal 3x of normal damage.
I generally do 2 specs. Either as a Guardian with typical talents or Resto with Balance specialization and Mass Entanglement talents. Mobs as Guardian and Resto are easier to kill and the levels seems to be shorter. I do Guardian when I know interrupts are needed, but you can switch specs on the 3rd and 6th floor in the bubble and the little image on the 3rd floor shows who the final boss will be, so you can look it up and see which spec you want to be.
Other tips. When you see 2 elites fighting, many times you can single pull the non elite mobs without the elite pulling.
Also, if you see a group of mobs and there might be multiple mobs attacking one defending mob, such as humanoids attacking an elemental, individual pull the mobs that are attacking the one defending mob, except for the mob the defending mob is focusing, so you don’t have to fight the whole pack. E.g. Mobs A,B,C, and D are attacking mob E and mob E is focused on mob D, individual pull mob A, kill it, then pull mob B, kill it, then mob C, kill it, then mobs D and E are left. As long as you don’t attack both, mob D will keep attacking mob E until you kill it or vice versa.
If you happen to pull a full group, use Mass Entanglement to root them all and kill one at a time. Mass entanglement’s cooldown is up as soon as it breaks, so you can essentially keep a group rooted, as long as you don’t AoE.
bear.
1 of powers gives bears boomkin nuke. It will be so strong (and its passive after 20~ moonfire ticks) that it will be ur #1 dps even with legendary that buffs thrash + multiple stax of thrash dmg powers.
the +hp powers also translate into more FR healing (as its %max hp based)
I find running torgast as feral incredibly easy. With the amount of self healing, damage and stuns i rarely die. With charge tallent I often jump over the traps by targeting a distant rat. Since day one i have been able to do max level torgast solo and in good time as a feral (resto affinity)
I am a Feral wearing world gear and cleared my first layer 8 today (yay me!). You can tell the difference as your gear gets better for sure. There will be ups and downs, but remember that you only need run at difficulty of “layer 3” to get most of the goods (i.e. lego’s and most of the ash).
When you are ready you can go right back and clear again at a higher “layer” for more ash (and to open new layers).
As for specs, run the one that you have the weapon for. You can get this from the PVP vendor in Oribos and then rank it up with honor.
I go as resto druid with feral affinity. It’s incredibly easy to blast through it like this. I look for the anima power than increases your rake/rip/moonfire/rejuv and stack it as much as possible. By the time you get to the boss your rake/rip/moonfire will chunk it.
Have completed layer 8s every week they’ve been out with ease
Second this! If you are the patient type you can kill nearly everything with your roots. Mass Entanglement damages everything in the area for a little, but using your single target Entangle damages for far more. If I’ve got a big pack ahead of me and I want to play it safe, I’ll mass Entangle the group then pick out one target to “burst down” and cast normal Entangle on it. Once that mob is dead rinse and repeat. Just always make sure to cast mass Entangle first then single to override.
You can kill basically everything except the end of dungeon boss. Root the end of floor boss and sit and wait.
If you want an easy-no worries-watch Netflix build go with bear.
The Barkskin power plus barkskin time power is a thorns build you just walk thru.
Plus thrash damage power is pretty good.
Feral is obviously quicker as you do more damage and the survivability is definitely there as well.
Balance is great, lots of good anima powers to make you do 50k sustained dps to all enemies at all times. Lots of different paths to get there, my favorite is when i just run around casting starfall and moonfall and it kills all the enemies around me on 8s
I too use Guardian for my Torghast runs. The survivability allows for mistakes to be made when I’m tired or get distracted. It’s damage isn’t that bad when dealing with a horde, either. A lot of anima powers will make up for the low tank dps or just make survival beyond ridiculous.
Out of curiosity, does Mass Entanglement work with those Anima Powers that give Entangling Roots damage? I’ve been meaning to try it out, but always forget to switch to using it before I head in.
Yeup. The only thing that gets slowed down is Ash collection which just slows down how quickly you make and upgrade leggos, really.
Then there’s the damage bonus for when you destealth, too. I always forget I have that one when I get it.
Hehe, one run I ran with my guild I had the duration of Barkskin just shy of permanent. It was beautiful.
I’m going to use Resto with Draught of Deep Focus for Torghast runs. If you stack the Anima power that increases damage of Moonfire, Rip, Rake and Rejuvenation by 60% 3 times that’s 220% with the Legendary. Those Super Ultra 420% Rejuvenations with a Soul of the Forest is hilarious.
Yeah, its not needed?
Like I said, I can clear the floors with the bare minimum.
This is just for the normal layers, haven’t entered twisted yet. I’ll definitely take my time for that one.
