TLDR: Nobody is going to take purple quality anima powers while in Torghast if they want to 5 star the run.
As we all know, Torghast now gives you a score based on your performance. If you full clear the place, you get 100 points. If you are fast enough, you can get up to 50 points, and you can get bonus points if you’re smart about when you use the empowered buff. But there are also bonus points awarded for doing various things:
The important ones in question are: Highlander: No duplicate anima powers. +15 Pauper: No epic anima powers. +10
These two together are worth 25 points, and are extremely easy to earn because neither is combat or skill based. If you get 200 points, you are able to enter the Adamantine Vaults for additional rewards, meaning everyone is going to try and get 200 points. Layer 12 is probably going to be pretty hard, so nobody is going to be able to steamroll the place. And since every point counts when trying to get 5 stars, nobody will stack the same power or grab any purple one for any reason.
I took an epic anima power this week and got 5 stars, in fact my first choice was an epic anima powers, then i grabbed a couple more epic ones.
Quit thinking getting 5 starts is going to be super hard or difficult. It’s not going to be, nor is it going to be mandatory to get 5 starts every time
If people are risk averse, sure. They’ll go for the easy points and hope it doesn’t slow them down too much.
On the other hand, you can get +35 for killing the end boss in under 20 seconds (Annihilator +20) and killing every elite enemy before they reach 4 stacks (Hunter +15) so you’d be up 10 points if those powers let you get those.
Plus, there’s always the fact that you lose 20 points for each death so you need to hope you’re durable enough without those powers.
I got a 240+ run tonight with only one of those two bonuses (I had a choice between an epic power or a second stack of something, so I took the epic). So even without them I’d have been safely above 200… and probably would have cleared faster, picking up a few more points in other places.
some specs suffer more than others from not picking epic powers. some of are
Horrific Vision is like that. People judged its difficulty as End of the World without them thinking that there’s a Talent Tree that would make the run easier.
As usual, the advise we give to such people is… please play the game first before claiming it’s the end of the world.
Torghast scoring really bites. You rush against the timer, don’t die, try to get everything (I got 96% done) and boom. Three stars.
Who wants to run this place five or six times when you are a pretty much max geared healer. I don’t want to run this over and over and over hoping to get the right powers to permit getting through super fast.
Honestly, Torghast is a real chore. I can’t stand it as it was. But now I have to run it over and over and over to get 4 stars?
I truly don’t understand what’s with all this timer fixation that going on nowadays. I won’t be surprised if they put a timer for raids in the future at this point.
Just gets tiresome that everything is rush rush to the point where you don’t get to the enjoy anything.
On topic with the thread though, I managed to net a 5 star with an epic power. The explosive Fleshcraft barrier one. All it takes is high health, Tank, to get fleshcraft barriers that 2 shot bosses.
I’ve yet to have a Torghast run where I wasn’t forced to take duplicate anima powers. My husband and I also ended up taking epic anima powers in Mort’regar, because the game gave my husband a choice of two epic anima powers only on a very early drop. We still manage Flawless on pretty much every run.
Nah , i’ve been doing torghast for both weeks now on layer 9 and 10 , without caring for what gives extra point and end up between 176 and 198 scores , and im SLOW , like very slow and under the ilvl recommended by the game(was 210 on 3 of the 4 runs)
Either knowing all the extra points possible or getting decent epic powers would probably push me to 200 . Or going faster and bringing consumables >.<
