Torghast scoring system is crap

I hate it. I enjoyed Torghast before 9.1 (I know shocker) but now it’s turned into a tedious rush rush rush gogogogo gotta be fast fast fast it’s M+ all over again. As a mage main I’m guessing it’s completely impossible to get 5 stars solo on the higher floors? This is completely awful

But enjoyment from Torghast came from slowly fighting through the enemies one group at a time, I detest the DEGENRATE mentality of pulling everything. But now I have to or my time will be crap and pull me down to 4 star even with 100% completion. The empowerment system only makes this worse in that for 30 seconds I’m forced to go ultra fast

Ugh it’s just awful. Why would they introduce this crap after all the praise for removing the timer from Torghast in beta? This gogogo mentality completely destroys any content it touches and as such I guess I won’t be doing Torghast anymore.

I know I’m in the minority because every post I see about 9.1 Torghast is people praising it, but as a class that is NOT designed to pull multiple packs and rush through everything this new design feels totally crap.

The timer is not required to get 5 stars, let alone 4. Ignore it.

You don’t need to go fast.

edit: I have gotten a 5star as a disc priest. “Fast” isn’t in my vocabulary.

Take your time with each floor.

You’ll get more points for completion, bonus etc than you ever will for time.

You can easily ignore the timer and get 5 stars.

Ok but what about when empowerment is up? Am I not forced to pull multiple packs and kill as many vessels as possible in 30 seconds? Does the bonus from that make a big difference

i got my first special chamber last night. i went back to do a +9 and aced it.

i normally do my runs the old way and disregard scoring.

honestly i was kinda flexing for a 5-star and in +9 it was trivial to get.

Use it when you want, it’s extra points in case RNG isn’t on your side for the other points. But having souls and phylacteries in a room is a good empowerement usage, even without a big pack of adds.

Other point is, you can get in a group.

No, I usually save it for a room (or rooms) with a lot of pots/souls. I don’t worry about killing stuff during it, I just break all the pots/get all the souls. I usually end up with a mid-20% empowerment bonus. Clear room/s. Pop empowerment. Destroy pots/rescue souls. Profit.

Once you unlock layer 12, you don’t need to rush anymore.

You don’t need to rush before then either, people just don’t understand how the scoring works.

I’m still trying to figure it out, to be honest. I did Layer 9 earlier and kinda just took it easy, didn’t rush, made sure to kill all the stuff, took breaks between floors…and got four stars which I was not expecting at all.

OP I’d recommend reading some of the guides before raging. It helped me a lot.

Yeah I am still working it all out too but I do a little better each time. I just feel compelled to reply in these “you gotta go go go pull everything!” threads as they are way off the mark. As I mentioned earlier I have soloed up to 12 and gotten 5 stars as a disc priest… “Fast” it is not. :slight_smile:

Well I just tried Skoldus 11 again. Did everything. Killed every pot, killed every mob, did all the side quests, tried to minimize my time spent drinking, didn’t die a single time and I got 3 stars. I don’t understand. I just don’t get it. What’s the catch? I seriously do not understand. It’s bonkers what they’ve done to this place. They’ve literally completely sucked the fun out of it. Jesus Christ what the heck is this crap?

Def read the guides, there are some things you can do that up your score (not picking an epic ability, not doubling up on abilities, etc.)

Ok I didn’t know about all these extra things I can do to increase the score thank you for the link, I’ll try it again but some of these sound hard (2 elites killed in 10 seconds sounds impossible as a mage)
