Torghast scaling is broken

i find myself more and more at a lost trying to decipher the insane game design choices that have plagued the game for years and continues to have a blind eye turned to.
for starters I am not sure who thought Thanatophobia was a good idea, but they were wrong, not only is it bugged and triggering at 60% but its essentially just a death sentence.
The scaling currently means you take one 20k hit from a random mob and you’re essentially just going for a run back.

I’m disappointed in these insane scoring changes too.
Why limit the abilities people can get if they want a full score?
like oh hey heres something cool and new and fun but you can’t take that so idk why were offering it.
Alternatively we have Highlander so we can only have 1 of each power, seems fine until you realize they don’t have bad luck protection on either so if you have bad luck you’ll be offered double epic powers or only doubles.
Do you think about what you put in or do you just pray it works out?

An entire paragraph about how you don’t like 2 score items that affects 20 points out of the over 300 possible points.

an entire comment that simultaneously adds nothing to a conversation and misses the point that was made entirely.

shocker

Its abundantly clear blizzard put next to no thought into the implementation of the new system, how they’re more interested in having a boring slog of another xpack that is more interested in wasting peoples time with menial chores instead of enjoyable content. people RAVED about how much they enjoyed PTR Torghast and they gutted it. have you done rank 11 this week? I mean obviously not given the speed in which you’ve chosen to defend the indefensible, so maybe you should go experience the content before commenting.

Actually I did complete floor 11 on both wings solo this week, while being well under the recommended item level…which you most likely are as well.

It’s amusing that you think it is improperly scaled when they clearly tell you that you are not ready for it.

Yes. Also the torments and blessings change daily. If you don’t like a torment go back the next day and get a new one. Which means you shouldn’t leave Torghast to the end of the week because you’ll run out of chances to reroll torments.

I just don’t like it. It’s not fun. Part of the fun was getting all those epic powers. Groovey right? Now it’s like going to a buffet and finding out you can’t have any of these foods, though they’re on offer, and you have to pay for the big plate but only use half the plate, and be sure to finish your meal in 10 minutes.

Sorta ruins a person’s appetite.

It honestly is a waste of dev time, of course I have no right to say that because I don’t develop video games for living and i don’t work at blizzard. but many beta testers said it was fine in beta, and i guess it changed after release to the point it was no more fun than picking flowers. was it better in beta?

To each their own, but as I pointed out to the OP…there are over 300 points available so you have flexibility in which ones you complete.

For example, if taking the epic powers let’s you kill floor bosses in 20 seconds or the end boss in 40 seconds…it’s definitely worth it

I know, I tried to commit them all to memory over the weekend. A lot of that is RNG based too (obviously) - but to me, it’s just lost some of the luster that made it fun. Now it’s a pain in the …

I personally enjoy it…

And it even gets more fun when you drop down to a 9 or 10 after buying the -2 Torments and +3 Blessings from the Box of Many Things

I 4-starred the one but couldn’t manage it on Coldheart. I think I can still hit 12 then next week - but I did drop down to a 9 and got a pretty sweet 5 star using my cat spec no less. I’m glad you’re liking it - I wish I did - I liked it better before.

Coldheart can die in a fire for all I care. I had a pack of mobs that were duking it out with some escaped prisoner types… they all pulled when I pulled one. There were 2 elites and 2 agents in the pack plus 2 others. I couldn’t interrupt both fears then I got creamed by the elites as I was running. (this was on my shadow priest not my shammy here)

where exactly is the outplay potential of 6 mobs all leaping on you at the same time triggering a fear effect 20% earlier than it should and leaving you with less points and a run back?

Do you pull with abilities? You can usually peel mobs off a large pack by proximity agro instead of actually using an ability.

Doesn’t always work but it works quite often and makes these packs more manageable if you’re playing a spec with little CC.

Yeah, two elites coming at you in a trash pack where the elites get reflective shields and everybody gets increased damage as you beat them down. LOL yeah, it can die in a fire.

Was just a bad pull on my part. I didnt have void erupt or power infusion ready. I thought I could snipe one like you said… I was wrong. They all came. They took turns bending me over.

LOL hahaha. LOL… this made me laugh.

My issue with Coldheart this week was either a really stupid trap, or a horrible glitch. going up a set of stairs, and, boom, falling to my death through the floor.

Happened twice, same spot, third time I just Gated past, but, meh, took the fun out of it.

I have died so many runs solo on layer 11 for both coldheart and upper reaches this week due to overpulling that I just took my time knowing how many groups I can pull reasonably and not worrying about the timer so much and just full clear and get the bonus points. I can score well above 200 to 5 star but not anywhere close to 300 at 228 ilvl. Some anima powers are way too good for my class that I will stack and forego the bonus points of having unique powers. The mobs in Adamant Vaults have even more HP and hit harder so I also build anticipatating facing them down the line.

Happened to me as well
