Torghast Pause Button?

Just a suggestion for the fears floating around about the Torghast timers. Why not just create a pause button? Basically find which abilities, like Blood Lust, with the large CDs are going to make problems and then add a pause button to both them and the debuffs on the same pause button.

So you don’t like the debuffs? Hit the pause button! But if you do, Sated (and Sated equivalents) won’t go down. This just gives us more breathing room to explore we won’t be required to sit in some small area that negates the debuff.

I’m not a super competitive player and anything like timers or debuffs get me stressed. If I know that I might have to help unload the groceries or take a call this just adds stress. We’re living in stressful times right now, can’t we de-stress just a little bit by adding a pause button to something we can control?

Don’t sit down when you know groceries are coming or you know you need to take a call… honestly… if you feel this much stress that you need a pause button… go play a single player game maybe.

Basically this.

WoW is a MMO, a online game, they won’t add a pause button because you can’t due to that, and even if they wanted to it would probably be more effort than it’s worth.

Manage your time better and take advantage of the safe spaces at the beginning of floors.

There is one. Before starting a floor you can stand around as long as you want.

Do we know if the starting areas are going to be close enough to however far we venture into the floor?

No, listen.

The resting area is gone once you enter combat. As soon as you enter combat, that resting area is gone. Only commit to a floor once you know you can go through the whole thing. A little pre-planning is all this will take.

I don’t NEED a pause button but I’d like one, one that just pauses Torghast like it would a single player game. Could only be used out of combat etc.

I don’t see what this has to do with time management though. I don’t feel stressed, it’s a convenience thing.

However they have break rooms, and I have ordered a Lazy Boy for mine, hoping it’ll phase into all the break rooms, and this safe space will have to suffice and I’m cool with that.

Gotta get up pretty early in the morning to catch you out huh Windzu!

I pulling your leg buddy, stay safe! :mask:

How long do floors take to clear, is it somewhat consistent? Just asking, not sure if you know, but you know tons of other stuff so giving it a shot here.

Exactly!

Right? I’m not thinking that i’m going to be having a panic attack on every floor, it’d just help if I have to get up and do something. Won’t have to worry about grinding out another entry fee because I had to help my neighbour do something.

I have not personally tested - but they’ve made it clear over and over that floors aren’t meant to take forever, nor is the Torghast experience meant to take forever. I’m guessing based on everything I’ve read and seen that each floor will take 10-15 minutes.

The other thing to remember though is that people are being in Torghast for extended amounts of time right now because Blizz isn’t concerned about length. They’re concerned about anima powers, mob placement, map layout, etc.

People are acting like the sky is falling.

I agree with the OP. I would like to have a pause button as well. You might be planning out your real life time to try to make torghast a thing, but stuff happens that just randomly require 5 minutes or so. Letting the dogs out, some1 knocks your front door, spilled drinks etc. those aren’t crazy rare events.

as a side note, I would like the pause button to pause the game; the game turns black and white and everything stops (kindda like starcraft broodwar online game pause). your cd and buffs stops ticking too.

Man you’re a warlock not a necromancer.

eh? it says may 20 so thats like yesterday isn’t it lol?

Technically you can pause the game but it’s not the kind of pause you’re thinking of.

/run local t = time() + 10 while time() < t do end

May 2020 lol. That’s why your post has “1 year later” at the top

Someone already mentioned the solution to this. You can sit at the start of a layer without any issues.

Pausing the game directly itself will never happen as with any mmo even if mom made epic meatloaf with veges.

mmo is a game that is massively multiplayer online. apart from the fact that you lose nothing if blizzard implement this since you’ll continue to play the way you currently are, saying massively multiplayer online games do not pause is just blatantly incorrect.

Nope. Ion, the former GM of Elitist Jerks, demands that you play the game HIS way. Aren’t you having fun? WHY AREN’T YOU HAVING FUN?!?!?

Torghast doesn’t need a pause button. Twisting Corridors one could sort of argue could use it, but there is no current good way to implement it. If you allow someone to pause it and leave, they could come back with more resources and/or gear and instances don’t really persist on an individual level past a small amount of time.

The start of each floor is safe. Every 3rd floor is safe. Each floor only takes 10ish minutes even going at a slow pace to clear assuming you aren’t just dying to dumb stuff. If you know you got IRL obligations, you shouldn’t be committing to content that isn’t conducive to being paused and should stick to world content or stuff like old mog raids or whatnot.

Shhh don’t give them good information. It’ll only make them more angry.
