Still boring, repetitive, forced, terribly balanced, RNG based content that has nothing to do with the core of WoW gameplay.
im depressed
I did the Upper Reaches layer eight solo yesterday as a Feral Druid. I’ll have to get back to you about the other wing. It was miserable going though. Food, oil, flask, battle potions, healing potions, and there was a lot of “Mass Entangle, back up, heal.” The Mawsworn Stalker in particular was the most challenging part of the run, and I needed to have at least one heavy DPS cooldown and a defensive if I wanted to have a chance to win. At one point, I entangled him to try and recover, and he started permanently evading while chasing me. Thankfully, I’d already cleared the floor boss by that point, so I just booked it for the exit.
I tried the “always stay in combat by keeping a Maw Rat pet”, but that’s just not feasible with the amount of random splash damage both my anima powers and i do. It became a race to get to the next mob path before combat with the first dropped, trying to time which packs to pull so my cooldowns lined up with my pulling the elites but not risking being out of combat without them up. It got to the point where I would kill the floor boss, select my anima powers, and then just sit there for as long as the game would let me, allowing my cooldowns to come back up. The moment the Stalker spawned, time’s up, into the next floor.
Edit: I am Cordial ranking with Ve’nari and have all the upgrades that provides, which has been a big help. Don’t underestimate the phantasma-eater item: it gives really solid buffs.
Beat layer 8 fractured chamber solo, ilvl 189 BM. It was miserable though. I found out whether the run is doable is entirely dependent on whether the floor/final boss is a caster or not. Melee floor bosses, even on level 5, can be beaten, with liberal amount of kiting towards the end. Caster bosses, however, is just impossible on floor 5. I could beat the floor 4 caster boss, just barely with all CD blown, but floor 5 and final boss, if it is a caster, is just too much. Spamming soul bolts at 0.5 or less cast speed with 6~9k each is an overkill on solo.
Yep, another thing no one mentions is no matter the layer the same - same anima powers and same abilities they just do more damage and have more health.
My butt hurts after that last layer.
Ended up having to kite the last two floors of the phys damage increase to mobs place cause I was getting nearly twoshot… as a tank.
This is not true at all, Torghast is easily one of the most beloved additions in Shadowlands and a lot of players are engaging with it successfully. If you find these higher layers to be a challenge, there’s always Layers 1 - 4 to give you most of the dust to progress. Both casuals and hardcore players can be satisfied, so what’s the issue?
Don’t mind Tupac. He just loves the sound of his own voice.
Just gonna leave this here (again)
Apparently, having a logical take makes you a “troll” according to the WoW Hate Group, reread my response and tell me where anything I said is wrong:
Layer 8 fractured halls. Started rough due to some limited anima power choices and became really fun when I landed a dps synergy and cd reduction for the anima power that makes you radiate death coils during lichborne. The boss never stood a chance.
I’m not even trolling, I really like it. There are periods where you are just mowing down some of the weaker mob packs and then some times when you have to kite or control dead something or kill one big mob and run away before you die.
Pretty sure you didn’t even read the post or title before posting this.
His cheerleading is not working, people see right through it, if he isn’t a paid troll then its even worse. Like Super begging for attention from blizz.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it despite my own hatred of having to do this type of content.
Heres the issue, I had no problem clearing layer 6 last week, as a prot warrior, and this week I cannot make any progress. This was shown as something “fun” to do solo, that if you want you can group for. Yet it has become group or make no progress.
This is not true, if players are failing to beat these higher levels then it’s a skill or gear issue as many players have done these layers with ease. Not everything is for everybody, so there’s lower layers to give you most of the dust anyways. This satisfies both groups of players.
You are missing the point. Completely.
Honestly the system is great and working as intended. On my main I’m able to breeze through most the floors on an 8 the boss fights are fun and engaging. On my alts I can still get some easy soul ash with the lower layers.
THIS! Players are not understanding the genius behind this new system, it rewards folks for the effort they put into the game over time played.
Finally beat my first layer 8 on Mort’ regar as a disc priest, feels great.
Only the final part on floor 5 was terrible with 20 mobs in a single group fighting each other including the floor boss.
Once you can figure out some very neat power combos for your class its pretty fun.
