Torghast is the biggest p.o.s. you’ve given us in a while. Only a close second to Trashran. How are you going to make something as vital as legendaries be a part of this grossly un-tuned place? I’m not a casual. I’ve done plenty of prog raiding and this crap is frustrating the likes of me. So I can imagine it’s quite discouraging for new players and casuals. If you don’t want this xpac to fail like BFA you better do something about this. (im doing this on a sub rogue. not a blood DK which im sure is a face roll)
Yeah it’s pretty garbage. Most of it is easy on my ret paladin, but once I come across a layer 3 boss with the Unnatural Power buff I can barely get it to 40%. I’ve cleared layer 3’s in a duo group with significantly less difficulty, maybe you should try that until they do something about it.
Stop complaining its fine join a group if you can’t solo
Torghast Is great, it just needs to be balanced a bit better for cloth wearers…
The layout is awesome and the style of play brings a different feel to WoW, but the fact most cloths need to party up to complete it makes it hard for people who enjoy just casually doing it and soloing things.
Why do people feel the need to proclaim they are not casual when complaining about an activity?
I’ve done Torghast on all 3 specs as a Rogue and it’s not that hard, you’re either picking the wrongs buffs, under geared or just not as good as you think you are.
My guess is a combination.
You have got to be kidding: Torghast is some of the best content I’ve done in a long time.
Try respeccing. That’s what I had to do on my DH and once I got the new spec down, the trouble I was having almost disappeared.
I just had some snafu’s with one of the layer 2 boss last week.
Also, you can exit, respec, then go in again and the last boss might be different. You just have to rerun the wing again.
I’ve been soloing it and really haven’t had any issues. If you are having trouble with the last boss, wowhead is your friend here. Got a lot of good advice from the comments section
I think Torghast is fun. The bosses are a little overtuned, but doable if you’ve taken your time and are loaded up with anima powers. If you’ve speedrun to the boss, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Also, I gotta say: Torghast was advertised as primarily solo content, but they have made it easier only for 4- and 5-person groups. This is dumb and bad, and folks shouldn’t feel compelled to group for this content. There’s plenty of in-game content for the groupers, including all the content that gives the best rewards.
While I agree with the dislike of Torg, although I would take it over any mechanic or content in BFA… I also gotta say, it is doable… you have to be either insanely lucky with the RNG or get good RNG on a class with consistent self heals. Certain classes will always excel over others at this type of content… good luck in the future tho.
I love it. You’re playing it wrong.
done 5 groups today alone, all failed on the 5th or 6th floor, feels awful wasting 4-5 hours ish to get 0 soul ash. im not casual either just feels wayyyyyyyyy over tuned and this will be a game killer since its so importantly tied to gear .
It’s not that bad.
When I was 158 ilvl on my main and alts it was a little rough. I had to restart two or three times around floor 4 because I just didn’t have a single anima power that was going to buff my damage vs a boss but once I was in 171 - 184 ilvl gear it became a lot less taxing when you didn’t get the handful of amazing powers available in the run.
The damage potion helps a lot and any talents that increase survivability or mobility are always good because damage with anima power shouldn’t really be an issue.
I found that CC was unreliable and just stacks up the buff faster on bosses. If you can live through a cast and only stun the important things it takes the difficulty way down as well.
One of the boss I did on druid ended up having 150% haste and was immune to CC because I was spamming the root break damage talent. Made it a lot harder than it needed to be.
I am also not enjoying Torghast.
I clear everything on every floor. Even fight off the unnecessary assassins that pop up while I am learning the locked chest combination. I have 26 anima powers, boosts to survivability and damage. Aaaand then the floor 6 boss is not beatable. I can interrupt every cast, but I never could get him below 30% health. I even had two extra deaths to use. No use. I just wasted all my time.
I know for me it is probably gear level. I am around 160 right now. But, if the final boss is going to be that hard, put a mini boss on a lower level that I cannot beat. That way I will not waste my time going trough every floor only to be disappointed.
Very frustrating.
what spec do you play and what’s your ilvl?
Are you asking me? ilv 157 hunter
Beastmaster hunter. I tried different pet types too. Even the tanky pets got oneshotted when he was at around 30% health.
I agree. Once you go open up Torments, it isn’t solo content anymore. Those Shadestalkers hit like a truck and just taking them out requires about every CD I have on my shaman.
Was having fun for about a good 2-4 hours tonight, just slowly getting through the two runs. Got to the third, had lackluster anima powers, and didn’t realize how utterly broken it would be trying to get past those Stalkers. Had I any clue, I’d have hung the hat up there for the night and not wasted the frustration.
Really hoping they actually make this doable for a casual/solo w/out relying so much on the roulette wheel of powers. Between school, work, and kids, I was looking forward to Torghast being added. Visions w/out the weekly grind. Guess not.
The challenge with Torghast is that it’s hard to describe the difficulty as linear. You can’t really attach an item level tag on each of the layers.
Layer 3 at 158 ilvl vs. 171 ilvl was vastly different.
If I wasn’t kyrian then I wouldn’t have cleared at 158.
Single target builds are going to favor clears. Single target focused classes are going to be favored at low item level. Powers like “Moonfire does 60% more damage when it’s on one target”, frenzied regen is cast everytime you go bear, etc only add to the success that those types of classes and specs have.
I think a peice of the problem as a whole isn’t that it’s “unfriendly for casuals” it’s just the idea that the max level needs to be cleared weekly.
On the beta mass testing thread there was a whole slew of people in the 180 template gear failing to clear past a certain point (layer 4) while people were hitting the highest layers in the same gear.
I don’t know what each of you consider a casual to be but everyone, and every spec, will hit a wall in Torghast where the layer and the next layer is very difficult.
If your casual. If you play affliction. If your in normal dungeon gear. I’d expect level 3 to be hard.
If any of those variables change I’d expect it to be a little easier for each one that improved.
What’s tough is really catering the same experience to everyone because it’s those very anima power selections that create the difficulty or lower it.
Im sorry, you spent 4-5 hs on 1 try? I think that is exagerating a bit. It takes 1 hour to clear everything solo and maybe if youre going super slow 1 and a half.
I have facerolled it on my paladin and on my rogue it took me a couple of tries sometimes but that is whats fun about it, that it is challenging RN!! I want to state that RIGHT NOW! Thorgast does not scale with gear so as your gear progresses it will become infinitely easier.

I get that fun is subjective, but I think that the game should have some challenging aspect to it. I think that quite a few people don’t want any challenge, and just want or expect everything to be handed to them. I’m having a blast in Torghast. I think it was a great addition to the game.
That said, I do think that the boss vs everything else in the layer can be kinda skewed. When you blaze through all five levels, and then the boss kills you over any over; it does feel like a tuning issue.
