Torghast is terrible for rogue?

So I just reached Torgast and hit Patrician Cromwell, what the hell am I even supposed to do in this fight?

In melee range he’s smacking me for a ton of life even with me dodging “floor is lava” mechanics. I can only interrupt his constant casting once every so often and they nuke me if I don’t.

I barely, if ever, get buffs in my runs. It takes a TON of time to get this stupid instance done since rogue isn’t the best at mobbing groups.

I think I’m at the point of quitting now. Tired of mandatory content being locked away behind class specific difficulty spikes. Other classes get to clear it with ease due to their “nuke” mechanics and I’m stuck at this trash “if you miss a button press in a 3 minute fight you die in a prolonged fight” junk.

I feel this exact pain.

Or you could group for it? Duo is a cake-walk. I did all my level-3s with a Prot paladin friend. We annihilated runs in less than 15min with nothing even remotely resembling trouble. Got a legendary memory, an epic follower, and 850 banked soul ash in less than an hour.

Yeah, rogue sucks for Torghast. We know. Everyone knows. It’s not ideal. But there’s an unbelievably simple solution to this problem; team up. It’s an MMO afterall, not freakin’ Skyrim.

Or you could throw a tantrum and literally quit the game, too.

If you can find a healer to do it with you it automatically removes any form of difficulty from torghast. You can also try out sub since it’s the only rogue spec with actual healing. Basically you just take the Soothing Darkness talent that restores 3% of your health every 1 second while in dance and take anything that increases your HP. Mawrat hp buff or getting +15%s basically makes you unkillable in dance.

Some of the Torg layers just don’t feel like they are intended to be solo’d by pure dps. I barely managed to clear layers 1 and 2 of both wings solo, but only due to good buff RNG. Layer 3 upper reaches was impossible without a partial group, and I still haven’t cleared Soul Forges layer 3.

If I remember from back in beta people were saying it’s easier and better to just abandon a run at floor 3 if you aren’t getting the buffs you need than to try and truck on just to wipe on the boss over and over.

Get a healer to duo with for now on anything you can’t solo.
(experience was on 145 sin rogue)

Which spec are you playing? I’ve found it mostly faceroll as sub rogue.

Yeah, so this tells me you don’t know what you are doing. You don’t always get the buffs you want, but you always get buffs. If you take the time to clear everything you will have a ton of buffs.

Well I get buffs, but the damage and survivability increase isn’t worth mentioning.

Rogue seems to get the short end of the stick when it comes to torghast buffs.

Definitely not the case post layer 2

I’ve completed layer 3 of soul forge and upper reach. You pretty much have to go sub if you want to solo because enveloping shadows provides so much self-healing. Maybe you could go sin with leeching poison but I have not tried it. To reduce the length, just skip trash. Kill rares, collect souls, destroy vases, open chests, and complete the escort missions.

I’m sure there is a tier list for traits but you usually want to aim for Jack of All Trades, the 35% vers, mastery, crit ones, (nightfae) sepsis reducing cd of shadow blades, arcane missile on crit, anything to increase your single target damage and reduce the enemies way of dealing damage.

Try to avoid the vanish traits and traits that are not very useful in the boss fight like cleave or aoe ones.

I’ve done both layer 3 on Sin with 156 ilvl at the time. It’s not that bad. Depending on what powers you get it’s either super easy or very difficult.

I failed Soulforges layer 3 once where I had weak powers. But I got very close to killing it multiple times. Aced it the second time.

Iv done later 3 for soul, but I’m stuck on later 3 of upper. Boss hits like a truck, so getting some more gear and going to try with new anima powers. I got a bad hand the first round. If that doesn’t work I’ll partner up

Cromwell will smash your face in. Wowhead comments are from a variety of different classes unable to kill her. I think a couple self healing tank classes could solo her.

the upper I keep getting synod omg he 3 shots me he has a stacking buff every couple sec and eventually becomes cc and interupt immune and its a complete race after I kidneys shot him. and he has 320k hp on solo im 185 and he kills me pretty quickly after evasion is done

i killed her on layer 3 just fine as sub. with about 75% hp left.

I just soloed Patricia Cromwell pretty easily.

The way to succeed in torgast is clearing the floors to get maximized buffs, buying the four extra buffs and bursting hard as possible while managing defensives.

I had an awful time with Cellblock Sentinel as outlaw, even waiting to start Torghast until yesterday when I was 175 ilvl. Now, granted, I did not bring any consumables with me (I should have), but yeah, he killed me three times in a row and I was worried I was gonna have to start the whole thing over with consumables.

Managed to beat him by stunning everything he tried to cast (gouge, blind, KS on cooldown) and then when we were both super low, I had to kite him in soulshape to use its 5% health regeneration to get me enough health to kill him.

Definitely the hardest solo fight of the expansion or recent memory for me.

Gherus or whatever at the top of the second wing was a cakewalk by comparison.

Honestly, the difficulty seems to come down to how lucky you get with the anima powers. If you get crappy ones, you might be hosed. But as far as I know, you can keep repeating this if you fail, so go get as much gear as you can, bring all your consumables, and hope for better random anima powers next time.

Things I see people making mistakes on;

Not doing Maw dailies for Stygia and having 0 permanent Torghast upgrades.
Picking powers that only work on trash.

Fix these two things and it won’t solve things 100%, but it will make things much less difficult.

Another tip for rogues or stealthers in general is to go around and pick up the powers from vases and kill the door boss of each floor for “free” upgrades, then clearing the trash if you’re having a hard time. Doing this makes it much easier to full clear floors for the maximum power possible.

Also don’t forget you can blind the big elites for a minute. With proper use of Sap, Blind, and Vanish you can often kill trash, reset. Kill one elite. Reset. Kill the last elite.

Crimson Vail does not cut it for Outlaw in Torghast. You need to get lucky on the anima powers. I didnt have much trouble till the last boss on level 3 (which really kicked my butt, over and over) till i got some crazy anima powers.
But seriously, Crimson Vail is weak.

Even if you full clear to get all the best powers and potions. One death on the end boss and it’s impossible. Outlaw cannot do it.
