I don’t even care about the difficulty, I just think it’s trash content. 6 floors that all look the same with the same mobs where the only actual challenge is the very last boss that relies heavily on RNG. There’s no challenge, it’s random lol. DPS sponges aren’t a challenge, they are cheap, perfect examples of lazy game design.
Most productive way it can provide any type of ash.
Before changes torge at lvl3 was challenging for my dk but i got it done. Now i can barely survive a two because the higher hp/dmg mobs do to tanks.
Torg needs ilvl mins on the layers if blizz is going to have it like this. Right now i feel in terms of gear you need its.
Layer 1: normal
Layer 2: heroic
Layer 3: lfr
Stop. Buffing. The. HP.
This utterly sucks, I don’t want to spend 30 minutes hitting a wall to see 1 of 2 mechanics that just straight up one shot you because we love undodgeable damage.
The people that like it aren’t posting. I like it and there are plenty of other people that also like it. Torghast is not burning.
The Maw… that might be burning. Those dailies are too much rn.
Torghast is caught between two different audiences: challenge seekers and explorers. The nature/gameplay of a roguelike is a natural fit for explorers who just want to enjoy the texture and variety the game offers. But the reward structure (ignoring soul ash for a moment) appears to be squarely aimed at challenge seekers, pushing people to go beyond the comfort zone they actually enjoy playing in.
My main complaint with Torghast is that it’s wildly inconsistent. Not even with actual RNG elements like which powers you get or which mobs or floor bosses - which can have huge swings - but basic things like how much tougher each floor is than the last.
I spent 90 minutes soloing a 4, had one or two deaths, some close calls. Some of the floor bosses I probably wouldn’t have cleared without playing around with powers (you know the heal-when-you-engage-a-new-target power? did you know it counts phylacteries?). It was a pretty fun run, aside from the usual garbage vis-a-vis feign death never working right.
And then I ran into the end boss and he had 15x my base health and chain-cast bolts that hit me for 10% each. I didn’t get him under half in my remaining attempts.
So either the floors before the boss were horribly undertuned, and I should’ve been getting shredded left and right - or the boss was overtuned, and I should at least have gotten close. I would understand if it was a close loss - some of the other encounters were pretty marginal. But going through 5 floors of prep only to be unceremoniously slaughtered just feels like something is not lining up somewhere.
It’s honestly like you ran through Heroic Nathria and they slipped Mythic Denathrius at the end. It’s just discordant.
I think it can be saved, if they tweak things a bit. I don’t want it to go up in flames. It was something I was looking forward to, and I feel the ground work is there. They just need to adjust things.
They will keep gear drops in the game low while buffing Torghast and spending more development time adding more content in upper levels that most will never be able to reach with their nerfed classes.
You forgot the most important part Nexumus, getting lucky on anima powers.
I decided to try this again as Arms. Boy was that a mistake. I have empowered floor bosses hitting me for 5k with their arrows. This is an absolute failure of balancing. Blizzard should be embarrassed that it was released in this state. There is no way for certain classes or specs to do this solo, and even in a group its way too difficult for what it is. It takes real talent to turn what was supposed to be a fun new feature into an unbalanced, unenjoyable mess. Bravo.
The damn Xpac is build around Mythic Raiders FULL STOP.
Im just sticking with level 2. It feels very much tuned for my 157 ilvl rogue. No point in forcing it (especially since its really the dogs i cant stand in level 3). Had lots of fun doing the run today. It took about an hour and a bit. I figure this is the actual intention behind everything, so im not gonna fight it. I still want the timer on those dogs nerfed though.
I think the problem for me was how easy 1 and 2 was initially (including the bosses), so you’d obviously want to move into the next level of difficulty. This time though, although the build felt nice (with tonnes of survival - has there been new unanounced anima powers on rogue, by the way? I saw a far greater diversity this time around), i still got to die twice on the final boss (arguably because it wasnt as melee heavy as former bosses making kiting a bit trickier).
Now that ive struggled a bit on the final boss, it feels like its where i should be in terms of progression (if that makes sense).
“If you expect the game to be fun, you’re playing for the wrong reason. The only fun you are permitted is the smug feeling of superiority knowing you did the exact same thing as everybody else was supposed to do.”
Sometimes I wonder if they even have a plan, or are going strictly on gut feeling. But if they do have a plan, and what we’re seeing is planned in advance to meet some goals they have set for themselves, I’d be pretty concerned.
I absolutely hate mechagon. I despise wows mech theme, it is over used and boring. I stopped after like 3 to 4 quests or what ever it was, then realized I need to complete it for flying. Still haven’t got flying.
Imagine saying mecha themes are over done in WoW after we had nearly a decade of expansions about orcs.
Orcs are boring too, doesn’t somehow make wow mechs good.
If you post a comment like this on a level 10 alt, congratulations, you’re a clown. Post on your main, coward.
Its not the difficulty …
Its the length of time combined with randomly running into unstoppable encounters 45 minutes into something you thought was achievable.
Combined with that is the fact that my progression was basically reset on tuesday. I was pushing 7, and needed to regress to 3. And that regression has little to do with the majority of it and, instead, has to do with randomly positioned mobs for which I don’t have enough answers.
It just needs to be tuned down and the ash drops increased.
