Torghast is a chore nothing more

It bugs me that they tried to incorporate a rogue-lite into WoW with virtually none of the defining features, like gear being a big one. Even as a random chance to drop off bosses on each floor once a day or something.

I enjoyed it. For the first 10 times I had to do it. That there are practically no rewards for doing it outside of a few items from Twisting Corridors and some soul ash I’ve really lost interest in doing it unless I need to, which I presently don’t. It has so much potential, but as is standard with Activision Blizzard it’s implementation was lazy.

This was sarcarsm… Mage’s literally have an epic power that does this.

Yeah it needs drops in there I totally agree.

Hi, I’m Rakham. I have 4 60’s 3 of which clear 8’s on Torghast. It’s nice to meet you.

There. Now, when can I expect an edit to your op based on new data?

Edit:
Oh. I have also cleared TC 8 as well.

I wish the content felt more random so it felt like it had more replayability.

I don’t hate it, but I’m geared and able to stealth through quite a bit so I can do a run in 15-20 minutes between nuking, stealthing, and FD resets. If I had to do 30-40 minute runs still I’d probably dread it.

Hi. Thanks for answering.
I didn’t phrase my question properly for what I really wanted to know. I’ll give it one more try. (at least)
In my OP, I asked how long a TC run was. I should have asked how many floors there were on a typical TC run.
When I made my OP, I was on the 12th floor of my first ever TC run.
I was looking for clues as to the whereabouts of King Anduin, to satisfy a quest I’d picked up from Bolvar, the deposed Lich King and leader of our parade.
I had been looking for 4+ hours, and I was tired.
When I’d finished Floor 8, I had found my clue, (King Anduin’s signet ring) and was hoping I was done.
When I hit the 12th floor, I was done , even if the game wasn’t.
On a TC run, are there typically 18 floors? Have you seen King Anduin? Thanks.

Squandered potential. They could fix it, though. Until then, it’s kinda crap.

I love it and look forward to it. I even levelled alts just to experience it differently. The only thing I would like to add to it is to add some other benefit in addition to soul ash.

I would say the effort from the last level of TC should be at least equivalent to LFR loot.

I like Torghast, now you know yet another person that enjoys it.

I’m not a huge fan of Torghast myself. Ran Layer 5 TC solo last night and didn’t get a single HP increase anima, this made the last boss absolutely brutal. No way I could have pulled it off on a higher layer without some more hp. There need to be some checks in there as not to waste 2 hours, like you get at least X amount of hp increase animas.

There are 18 floors in a full TC run.

For the quest purposes though one doesn’t have to do a full run since running floors 1-6 three separate times, or 1-12 and a 1-6 combo.

I enjoy it as a nice side thing to do. There are times here and there during the week that I say ‘hey, I’ll go do my torghast run.’ And it’s a decent distraction.
I like it better than island expeditions, since there is no timer.

If they added more stuff from it, then it would be great. I don’t want gear or anything. Just give me more transmogs or let us get stygia from it so that it is an alternative to the maw dailies to work towards our socket things. Cap it to only one run each week gives stygia. But just put more useful stuff in there, and I’d be happier.

TC are always 18 total floors with vendors on 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18. 3, 9, 15 are “safe” vendor floors. So essentially its 3 “normal” torghast runs stacked one after another with difficulty scaling up each floor.

To get the clues for Anduin and complete the quest you don’t have to run all 18 floors. You simply have to repeat floors 1 to 6, killing the last boss 3 times. This is very easily done as layer 1 is quite simple on the first 6 floors. Good luck!

Same but on my spriest I hate it. On my shamen it’s good but could be better with more anima powers and a few minor tweaks here and there.

I did a few runs last night and fishing out health powers turned out to be a big issue. In fact, the last few runs I’ve had there’s been some crazy RNG. I normally get something that increases my convoke 50% -and that will appear at least once, but more often twice and sometimes three times. I didn’t get it once in one TC run. But hey, I did get the ironfur talent, which, if I was a bear or specced into guardian affinity might even be useful, but I don’t have that. I was even offered several bags of leather and low quality meat throughout one run. I used to think that by the time you reach floor 18 you’ve pretty much gotten what you need - that’s not always the case lol. Sometimes the RNG is soooo awful.

It has potential to be a lot of fun. Not the two weekly runs, those are boring. But TC could be a lot of fun with some adjustments.

  1. Add a save feature. Things can come up in the hours it takes to finish a run.
  2. Make it longer than 18 floors. This is should be done once a save feature is implemented.
  3. Add WAY more rewards, like gear catchup for alts, transmogs, pets, mounts, etc.
  4. Make it so that each 6th floor boss has a chance of dropping a reward. The higher the floor, the better the chance.

I wouldn’t mind Torghast if there was a point to doing it past the weekly soul ash.

It needs to be itemized somehow.

Yeah. I don’t know what they were thinking what they decided it was a good idea to not give any items for completing such a long task.

On my mage it generally takes me 45 min to 1 hour 15 min to complete a layer 8. When I see the soul ash loot I just kind of roll my eyes everytime. lol
