Torghast Events: 0/2 Blizzard

At least the mawdog was mildly amusing the first time it ran off and aggro’d the entire room.

I transformed into my shade, all ready to go, hit my spell and… did about 5% of one mob’s HP.

No. Nope. Absolutely not. Slow, clunky vehicle combat with less options than my own character.

Have you not learned from path of ascension? I want to play -my own- character, not a bad, slow, annoying vehicle.

I immediately left and reset the tower after that single pull of 1 move and did a regular run.

These toghast events are consistently worse than just doing regular solo runs. Pointless, boring, frustrating, unrewarding.

But I guess torghast does live up to its name- it’s pure torture.

Ohhh you missed out. Did 2 runs in a full group and it was a blast. The whole party can ride around in a single vehicle, so tank healer casters, everyone in one mega healing damage reducing package. It was a whole party in my belly!

Dog event was fun once you looked at the dog less like a pet and more like a living, self regenerating pile of TnT.

I haven’t tried the shade yet.

I got a crazy shade my run, kept stacking up that “Time moves 20% faster” power and had 60% by floor 8, was a blast.

Also I made the ranged bolt instant cast and apply a nasty stacking dot.

Shade is super fun. After you get a healing upgrade or two you just fly through the map spewing AOE damage and being unkillable. 1st run had 100% uptime on 50% crit chance and constant ST interupt casts that left a massive dot, 2nd run had a 20 yard AOE pulse and so much healing that i could pull the whole floor if they didn’t leash. Had so much movement speed in the 2nd run that the end boss couldn’t even hit me while I spammed my aoe

The worst part is that if one person in a group chooses shade then everyone only gets shade powers.

Yeah, i carried a friend through today and they chose that thing, i kept getting all of the options clogging up my powers even though i didn’t take it

I’m dreading guild Torghast night because I’m going to have to get no one to take it for multiple runs while we get our last few lads up to level 8.

I decided to truck through the whole 6 layers tonight.

It didnt get better, it was useless trash. The one single damage increase I was offered out of all the anima choices/vendor choices…increased my melee damage by 100%. Thats it.

Same damage I did floor one, on floor 6, barring the 17% main stat from the souls.
It was worse than the pet event, complete and utter garbage.

I just wish they could make an event where its not a massive freaking detriment to you to choose to do it. Solo content for the freaking flagship Solo Content you advertised the entire time.

Couldn’t even get an elite to 50% the entire run, as the shade.

0/10, will not repeat.

I’m enjoying the shade, solo run, floor 6 my shade was doing 20k + dot with the main ability and 6k spam AoE. Honestly it’s good if you factor in other damage increasing anima powers are compounded by the shade’s blanket +50% damage boost.

Most fun I’ve had doing my Layer 8s in awhile.

I think I felt frustrated at the start that as an ilvl 213 tank, the vehicle was a significant downgrade in speed and damage. As a brewmaster, torghast is easy enough with 5 stacks of corrosive dosage. I already have a spammable aoe that does 20k damage, not 6. So the event is a downgrade for me.

I had multiple CDRs on the first ability, +10yd range on the AoE ability, like 15k health regen when I phase shifted, +50% damage and healing and 20% movement speed by the time I got the final boss. It was quick, and more importantly it was something different than the same powers I get every week in Torghast.

To be fair, the 2nd time in UR I had far fewer powers and was constantly switching in and out of Dead Chorus.

Look at the disparity in these posts. Perfectly demonstrates one of the biggest problems with Torghast. How can 2 players doing the exact same content have such wildly different experiences, the reasons for which are nearly completely out of their control. How is it even possible that the answer is “Oh well, you’re just screwed because you got bad powers”? I did the Torghast event with the dog and it was bad enough that there is no way I would try this one or any of the other events.

My criticism isn’t limited to the special events, either. There are enough bad powers in there that do not fit my playstyle or what I want to do with my characters in that setting that I rarely run it and haven’t actually gotten very far. Torghast could be so much better than what it is.

The beasts one was lame.
The shade I only did on the 6 floors stuff, not sure but by floor 4 or 5 I was able to be quicker and the aoe was nice. It helped my undergeared alt do the boss on layer 2 (yeah he’s 150 and I suck)

Overall it was better then the beast event but not by much. They aren’t all t hat ‘wild’ as Blizz is selling it as.

I thought the shade was a blast. To each their own.

Is this event in twisting corridors

I dont believe the events ever affect twisting, only the regular 8 layer halls for soul ash.

shade was fun but idk if i’d choose it again, maybe because i didn’t get good choices of powers in my run but i felt like i wasn’t doing as much as i could have if i just went with the usual choices of buffing my pets damage and health on my lock

your ST spell starts with an 8 second CD and it only felt impactful after i got 3 of the powers to reduce its CD by 2 seconds so the majority of the run i spent just spamming 2 and using my store-brand Arcane Explosion. i did get like 5 charges of a targeted teleport though so that was fun

There are few things I hate more about the World of Warcraft then vehicle combat.

Why in the world would I want to play someone elses character (which is what a vehicle is).

Ok, so I went back and did my second soul ash run using the chorus.
It was… meh? The build is very similar to how brewmaster corrosive dosage runs work anyway, except when I run corrosive dosage I have all my other abilities and items available to me.

This is good for classes whose powers aren’t as good / balanced and will help them run torgo. It’s kinda meh / useless for a class that has no trouble in torghast and can get it done faster just using regular powers.
