Torghast ... Did endless levels get removed?

Just caught the start of a conversation on mmo suggesting that the endless level option in Torghast got removed from beta.

Can others confirm this yay or nay?

Man, that’ll suck if they did. It sounded cool as hell. It was simple and easy to understand. And it seemed like it would offer unlimited challenge.

Hope this isn’t true …

I’d guess this was supposed to be content that served a great many purposes. They’re finding now that one size doesn’t fit all.

I doubt it is true, Blizzard is not that dumb.

I think the endless levels are for the cosmetic items side. The halls that you will do for legendary components might not be endless. But I think if any big change like this was made, it would be all over the forums.

Ya it is not true. You got to unlock the endless mode. Just checked.

From what I’ve seen you get to do floors 1-18 then you’re kicked out and have to start over starting from some middle checkpoint like floor 14-32 and so on. So you don’t continuously do floors and boots you out and you have to rebuild your torghast powers.

LMAO

He said Blizzard isn’t that dumb, guys.

Currently on the beta it’s capped at 18 floors. Doubt this is the intended release design. Just how it is for now

Just a bit done differently because it’s beta.

I’m genuinely a little confused by this change.
As i understand it (just watched the preach explanation on it), solely in the case of the introduction to Torghast, you have to do 6 wings, each with 6 floors. With each wing having a mini boss. As you complete each wing, your powers reset and you access another wing. Once you complete all 6 wings, you can now access Torghast proper.

That’s it, right? It’s a one-time only deal. Your alts dont have to do it.

But i’m so confused… why would they think they need this introduction quest? Why would they make it so rigid and on rails? Why would they make it so… grindy and boring? Why make you do the exact same thing 6 times with the only change being the mob type or the theme of the rooms? You know what you need to do after floor 1… in wing 1… clear stuff, collect things, ascend the tower.

Surely its better just to give players a quest to reach x-floor (lets say 10), then at 10 they pick up some mcguffin. Once this is brought to some person in your covenant, they magic it into some kind of ancient key stone that lets you climb the tower to your hearts content. Job done.

First, you get booted out of the system on your first try (just like you do with the 6 wings if thats blizzards desire)
Second, you get a taste of that sweet power creep. By kicking you out, you get this delayed gratification. You KNOW you could have gone further. You WANT to go further. The game forced you to do something else and start again. But you’ll be back!
Third, well, im sure there is a third, but honestly you dont even need one. You’ve given players an intrinsic motivation to go back inside. The lack of familiarity with the floors and learning the mechanics for possible rewards provides the extrinsic motivation.

I really wonder sometimes about you, blizz. Why do you make these weird choices? By the time ive run my 6 runs for all 6 wings, i’ll be sick of the place. I’ll have seen a micro snapshot of the entire possible floors and themes available. I’ll be guided every step of the way and made absolutely sure theres nothing i dont know about what im doing. I’ll have my instinct to explore and discover things for myself completely stripped from me (i wanna explore the tower and get some surprises along the way - i dont care about climbing levels for the sake of it or beating my personal best - i just wanna explore it (its why ive kept away from a lot of the discussion on it)).

But with this change, im genuinely worried you’re about to deprive me of what should be a genuinely fun experience (if only for a few weeks).
