Torghast Dates

These times gates are fun

Time gates are necessary.

I want to gear my alts, do other things, not endlessly grind Torghast to be competitive.

The biggest benefit is the fact that this allows people to catch up, and not constantly be behind people who started earlier.

Two weeks of only 3 layers of Torghast, followed by X more weeks of only 3 more layers, followed by X weeks before the only 2 layers of Torghast that really matter…

Kinda feel bad for players who were looking at Torghast as their main attraction. Sounds like players are going to get bored of this even more quickly now.

If that’s your priority, do it. If others want to grind from the jump they should be able to do that too.

Meaningful choices and whatnot

Honestly, this is probably good for the game. you get 2 weeks of normal mode, 1 week of heroic, then mythic unlocks.
I see it like how we have the 2 weeks of M0, heroic week, mythic week for other PvE content

Edit: if they let you go to layer 8 week 1, you’d have a lot of players who would be unable to complete it with the gear that’s available to them week 1, which would cause forum drama

Gasp! Oh no the are time gating the first 3 weeks of Torghast so no one screws up and can be on the same level as everyone else? NO WAY!..Seriously the playerbase is nothing but prima donna’s.

"I feel I need a holiday, a very long holiday, as I have told you before…Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: Like butter that has been scraped over too much bread. That can’t be right. I need a change, or something.”

Id say we are getting the bare minimum and there isn’t enough content already.

You can complete layer 8 without any raid or M0 gear, its certainly easier on certain classes than others but Torghast isn’t hard. This change is kinda annoying, if you did all 8 layers week one then you wouldn’t have to do more than one run of each wing a week the following weeks.

Can you do torghast layer 8 in ilvl 150 gear, yes. Is most of the playerbase good enough to pull that off? I’d argue probably not

They could just have a catchup system for Soul Ash instead of limiting it. They seem to have a catchup for just about every other resource in Shadowlands. But Torghast instead gets a staggered opening?

I just think it’s lame for players who were looking forward to spending most of their time in Torghast. Yea, staggered opening is great for players who were going to be doing 10 other things with their time, but not everyone plays the game the same way. The catchup systems in place seem to accept that mentality, but Torghast is the outlier because they want to limit how fast we accrue soul ash and thus craft legendaries.

You’ll still spend plenty of time in Torghast just doing the unlock quests and the campaign with Bolvar.

Was looking forward to pushing my own progress through Torghast as soon as I hit max.
But now it will just be held back until we have access to gear that will make it easier.
The option of taking the challenge earlier was much more appealing than trickling the layers out there a few at a time.

Bad move imo, but I know that not everyone plays the same as me.
Just sucks to hold the few back for the wants of many.

Eh well.
The Maw mount will be mine by new years either way dang it!!

Woo. Waiting = Content. Exactly what everyone was asking for Blizzard, more timegating. How was I going to justify paying for my subscription otherwise? Actual fun content that I can do at my own pace without Blizzard regulating my every step? Pffft

only one week with 3 layers open, the first week of shadowlands torghast will be closed. On the third week of SL the raid opens, and with that more layers will be availible, going to layer 6. And in the fourth week mythic raide opens and the last two layers will be open too.

You’ll be able to craft a legendary on the raid week, as long as you have the rest of the matirials. Not a problem at all.

My comments weren’t about the legendary crafting – I know that’s why Torghast is being staggered, mostly. I was just commenting that Torghast was parroted out as the key feature for the expansion, rogue-like blah blah whatever players could do solo, run as much as they’d like, explore, etc.

All those things don’t work well when for the first month, you can only do certain layers as Blizzard dictates it. Again, as far as legendary crafting goes, this staggered approach is fine. And maybe even better in the long run as players will be better geared for the new layers opening up. But once again this is Blizzard dictating how players can play the game, and I thought Shadowlands was supposed to move away from that mentality, not further reinforce it.

the cosmetic part of torghast will be probably be available on the first week, it’s completely different from this part that reward soul ash for the legendary

I look forward to the flood of crying in this thread from players who think a 3-4 week time gate of Torghast is going to break them. Especially since nearly all of those players couldn’t beat the higher level floors with low gear in the first place.

You misunderstood the post on that, torghast is closed the first reset, ie if you speed level and hit 60 before reset on tues you won’t have torghast or m0 to do. But you can do them after reset on tuesday.

So next week and the week after will be 3 layers.
then layers 4-6 the week after that
and then 7 and 8 mythic week.

You should still be able to craft a legendary week 2

3 levels gives 305 soul essence
2 layers per week is 610
2 weeks is 1220

Plus you get some for unlocking quests, easy set up for 1 legendary week 2

Gotta get those time played metrics up for the stock holders ya know.

there will be no reset on the first tuesday of SL, Ion already sad that
