Arent roguelikes heavily RNG dependent?

Impossible? I was a 140 ilevel demo lock and did layer 3 alright, but I did die twice to the last boss.

Maybe the ilevel scaling is off I guess. But these aren’t even the hard layers yet, so my guess is if they are overtuned they’ll be adjusted.
Layer 3 for me has a boss that does increasing damage that can’t be LoS’d and one shots my pet after a bit. He goes invulnerable every little bit as well. I’ve gotten him down to 15% so far and then just get one shot. 169 ilvl.
Rogue here, ilvl165 tried for about 100 attempts over ~4 hours(I could just keep vanishing, and my CDs would be reset, even vanish lol) and just kept failing. I even tried buffing myself up with Slice n Dice, full combo points, and Shadow dance as the CDs would reset upon vanishing but the buffs/points remained, and still couldn’t clear it. I even had my crimson vial on a 20sec CD and had good upgrades, but I still couldn’t take him down.

Yes, we get that. But it’d be nice to have some certainty that its COMPLETABLE, and im not actually just wasting my time.
Without certain anima powers, the run is bunk, and I wont know it until 3 floors in. Thats a waste of my time.
Eh im not finding it too bad as ret. 1 shot the giant eye thing in the layer 3 fractured halls and got the gorger looking thing on mortegar layer 3 on my 3rd try
Anyone run into the cool bug where the portal boss just evades out and you cant pass the level…nothing more enjoyable then slogging your way through a Mort solo only to be beaten by an evade bugged boss.
I don’t mind challenges but part of the issue is the ‘all or nothing’ aspect. Like it or not for a large percentage of players investing a significant amount of time in an activity only to have them leave feeling cheated at the end because of RNG + overtuning is not going to go over well long term.
I suggest at least drop a portion of the reward during the run.
Personally once I get enough soul ash for the legendary I’m done you can keep those extra levels. I’m already sick of that place two weeks in lol.
Yeah agreed. If there were difficult mechanics I wouldn’t complain but as an arms warrior when the boss is smacking me for 8k each hit there is really nothing I can do
