Torgast changes to a M+... DONT PUT TIMERS

I figured that out on my first run in 9.1 and it has eased my brain so much. I ran Torghast like I always do: camo past everything and kill the last boss. When I finished, I didn’t care how many stars I got.

Boss died. I won. Repeat next week. :stuck_out_tongue:

again, time gating meaningful content is not the way to go, most of the players base will get tired after 1 week. wake up dude.

I’m glad you find it helpful. Hopefully others do too.

My point ultimately is that people need to stop thinking THEY did it perfectly and accept that there is probably some or even a lot they can do to improve AND THAT IS OK.

I consider myself a far above average player, but one thing I always do is look at every mistake I make (even minor ones). I always have the power to change me…I can realize I goofed up or made a mistake and figure out what I should have done differently and take actionable steps to fix it. Anyone saying they never make a mistake is lying or extremely ignorant.

Torghast even is SO much nicer than visions…visions, even when maxed geared, could still end early by 1 missed mechanic that cascaded into a death or sanity loss…visions also cost a crapton of time and effort (at least at first) to even get the priviledge to run the thing…and I loved visions too (and even solo 5 masked it in Org and SW on the defacto hardest spec then…a shadow priest…literally healers were even better at visions than a shadow priest was).

Personally, I think the opposite. I thought visions were fun and remained so. Torghast is still boring and I can only imagine it become more boring once I’ve 5 starred floor 12 once or twice.

I got a five star on layer 9 a despite not killing all mobs on one floor due to some random insane point breakdowns.

What I learned from 9.0 is that it’s faster to do Torghast as a Group.

So I did Layer 9 on Upper Reaches last night with a group… 4-man with DH as Tank and the rest are DPS. I dont even know what’s happening. DH keeps on pulling mobs… mobs after mobs. Well, I just nuke every mob he touched. And they all melted.

Then I realized there’s only 5 floors. With a group, the run ended so fast… got my 5 stars. Really, I didnt even know what was happening. LOL.

My only concern is just for me to get Soul Ashes and Soul Cinders. I got 110 soul cinders on one run. I thought I should be getting only 60 soul cinders per run. You see, I dont even understand the new Torghast. LOL.

I liked visions. My point was that visions was much harsher of a system since it had an actual investment to even get a run in and the potential for failing was ever so much more present. I had literally BIS gear and yet all it took was a single missed crucial mechanic and I just wiped (or it cost me my res).

Now the worst that happens if I fail Torghast is I am out whatever time I spent on it and I can make WAY more mistakes and recover from it than I ever could with a 5 mask vision run.

So like i get the complaints, seeing a timer adds stress for sure. But the real outcomes of it shouldnt be stressful as there are other ways to progress the run.

Maybe you should have a checkbox before starting the run for timer use or not and just let people who dont want a timer adding stress to just not have it displayed and not have it factored in…

Like playing an RPG should be, imo.

It’s like players who complain that the content is too easy, but refuse to take off any of their precious gear; you have the power at your fingertips, just use it. In this case the power is: ignore the timer.

Well i get the added stress of seeing that timer in content you dont want to be rushed in. It should be easy for them to have it removed before starting the run and that would make everyone happy…why not do something small like that ?

You want them to add in an ability to help you ignore a timer? They should add an ability that makes my gold double too, lol. It would help with the added stress of being poor.

This is what bothers me. I dislike challenges and really ignore them for the most part. I run M+ because I enjoy running them with the group I run with. Now I have to worry about a “score” there.

I run Torghast for the stuff I need for the legendary, and to help others get through the tower. Now I have to worry about a “score” there too.

I ran a Torghast on Tuesday, just to see what the scoring was like. I cleared everything in the first floor, broke every piece of pottery there was, and saved every spirit. At the end it said I cleared 68% . The place was just one big open room, and yet I got a 68% even though I ensured I took out everything. So, I have zero confidence in the validity of their scoring system.

They’ve ruined two of the main features of their current game by enforcing a scoring system that really only a small part of the population would want.

They should have made two versions, one for those of us who just want to get our legendary done, and the other version for the people who enjoy such things.

do the timers even mean anything in torghast?

I got a five star last night.
I took breaks to make a cup of coffee and smoke…

Unless you going for the 4 gem to move up a layer you don’t need to push it immediately. Get the box of many things and put points into in then try again for the 4 gem run you’ll find its alot easier.

Kinda but also no. It goes by completion and other points added up so you can ignore time if you try everything else.

Just finished my first Torghast run since the patch.

And I can sympathize with the frustration.

My toon didn’t die. Got 99-100% completion on every floor.
I wasn’t going slow. I finished this run pretty darn fast, only a few minutes per floor. Far faster than prior to the patch where even a normal Torghast Layer 8 run could take an hour.
Still only got 3 stars / gems — and just barely.

Prior to this patch, I didn’t run Torghast all the time but I didn’t mind it. I did my once a week run on each wing for Soul Ash, once I got a high ilvl I started doing twisting corridors, and that was that. It was a very neutral relationship.

But now I hate it. This rating system has very obviously made it a speed trial. Mythic+ doesn’t have to be in every dang system!

I thought you could ignore the timer and still get enough points to move on?

I actually have thoroughly enjoyed the new torghast. It made it feel alot more fun than the BS that it was before. My wife and I ran both wings about 10 times until we got a 5 star run on both.

Since you’ve provided your feedback, I’ll provide mine.

I love the Torghast changes. I love the completionism of it. I love looking back on a level and seeing waste in my wake.

Frankly, the change I like least is the removal of the 5th floor: it took away some opportunities for me to feel even more powerful. But on the whole, I’m fine with it.

I love the new abilities, I love the new challenges, I love the timer, I love having to complete everything. All love.

I wonder if class is a factor here? I see very few Hunters complaining about Torghast. Hmmm…

This is false. It would be great if Blizzard made it obvious why people don’t score high enough.

You can get a 5 gem with zero points from time. It’s math

Part of it is using empowered when you can. It’s bonus points and we made the mistake of saving it for floor bosses. Upgrading the box of many things helps too.
