Most of the new points earned are things players were doing already — which is why you see some say just don’t worry about the score.
Your skill at the game doesn’t have anything to do with you clearly not understanding the mechanics. It’s not time. Right click your score board. Look at the point break down. Learn what bonuses you can earn and away you go.

I didn’t say you had no skills, but if you were so accomplished, you would realize there is always room for improvement.
Torghast is great because there is no cost other than your time to use it. Unlike visions where you had to farm up an absurd amount of currency and a single DC or even mistake could just flat out end the run and cost you all that time farming for the pointless item to run it…so if you make a mistake or have a poor run…then whatever…you lost nothing but some time.
You are getting defensive when in reality you should be looking at every mistake made and why you made it so as to learn and do better. I only 4 starred them this week but I went in blind and doing what I normally do…I didn’t know about all these extra bonuses and now I do. I don’t bemoan the system…I’ll just aim to do better next week.

There’s a further 155 points in bonus objectives. You could literally take allllllll day and get 5 stars if you get most of the bonus objectives (some seem mutually exclusive, like highlander “no duplicate powers” and collector “30 powers”, but there’s still more than enough.)

I believe you need a 4 star run on layer 9 to unlock layer 10 (according to wowhead) so…
Its not really a timer, its just bonus for doing more and doing it better. It doesn’t lower your score that much, don’t think of it as a +… Just run it like you use to, just be grateful there isn’t a death tick anymore.
Pro Tip: Go as Slow as you want. Skip what you want. You go too fast, you get less items but a better time, might equal out.
If time was .05% of the score people on the forums would blame timers and says it’s turned into M+.

That is not a pro tip. Not killing things/skipping significantly lowers your score.
An actual pro tip is doing what I said. Learn where the hidden points are and go for them. If you make mistakes, instead of whine and moan about how things are hard or unfair…find out what YOU could have done differently and learn from it. I 4 starred my runs this week doing what I normally do. I got next to no bonuses though because I simply didn’t know about them. I’ll see how I do next week.
I literally take stock of what happened and call myself out when I make mistakes. I’ll even blame and call myself out for mistakes OTHERS make if I feel I played a role in them making it because in the end, I can always control me. If someone else needs to change, I can’t force or make them do it but I ALWAYS can make myself learn and do things differently.
I both laughed and cried at this! Timers & perfection were reserved for mythic+ I’m trying to back down in my own mind about the game flaws, and just have fun. This kinda of thing doesn’t make it easy. What did was “Sonic the Hedgehog”! lol - thx That about sums it up.
I just can’t get over whatever we say we don’t like they make worse, whatever we say we like they take away or make worse ???

You can ignore the timer and get 5 star, its more about the bonus objectives then the timer. There is ZERO need to rush.
They’d rather ignore facts than the timer. It’s easier to complain that way.

Pretty sure I’ve stated several purely factual things (as have others). People just don’t seem to want to learn or set aside their preconceived notions.
It’s already been proven the timer LITERALLY can not be a factor in 5 starring a run if you make up the points getting other bonus points. It also can definitely be argued the timer is lenient enough that you could just as simply be good and get it just playing more or less normally.
Edit - I went into Torghast 100% blind as to the new mechanics and got a 4 star doing what I normally do and getting no special bonuses. I’m not a class that can ever really burn a boss in < 20 seconds (especially as a tank…the lowest DPS tank even) and I run with someone who knows to generally prioritize select elites first so we never thought to just stagger burn them evenly. We still 4 starred at like 170 or so points.
I am confident with just taking the slightest bit of mind to get some bonus points (we also wasted empowerments on floor bosses thinking that was the point) we’ll exceed 5 star ranking easily.
I guess that is a problem.
I see posts like this. OP is wrong, more than one person explains why. People gloss over it to agree with the OP.
I did a couple of 4 gem runs. 2 out of 3 floors (not boss or vendor) I back tracked to the beginning to make sure I didn’t miss anything as completion is the highest part of your score.
Then people are saying it’s turned into M+
When did groups in M+ ever make sure to kill every mob before they killed the last boss?
Hey we heard you guys complaining about min maxing so we added more min maxing to what little doesn’t have it yet.
Hey we added a bunch of low effort mounts so you can min max your collecting
We added more to a legendary just for the hell of it
No we didn’t add more customization stop asking don’t you see how strung out we are.

There are a ton mare people on suddenly than all spring and yes, most are whindging, The one’s that aren’t suddenly went quiet or are playing - not here.
I get ticked and loose it sometimes and get way too personal. i need to me more aware of my red flags. So, Really glad you explained it. Thank you.

I’ve run it a few times with a few different strategies, fully clearing is obviously weighted more than time. and not dying, don’t die. lol
