I just gave it a go doing it normally with torches on the 1 key and clicking with mouse, out in the open in Dal.
Got it first attempt without any issues, had 110ish fps and 25 ms.

Yah lag is a major issue… our characters are not catching the thrown torches that quick. Even still, if things go right, Blizzard made a mistake with this achievement. All the stars have to align in order to actually do this.
Just logged on now, went down to the sewers and gave it another try, got it in one shot, literally just server lag.
Edit: Went and tried another character, got it in one shot again, so the achievement (unless it gets adjusted) is essentially just hope to log on during a low population time.

it must be a lag issue.
i didnt have any issue getting this yesterday after the event went live
i bought 40 torches for measure.
stood away from everyone near the fountain on the alliance side
put the torches on my 1 key
put my mouse reticle over my character and kept hitting 1 and clicking

this is the 3rd time ive seen the sewers suggested ‘because ceilings’, which makes zero sense because they go through ceilings lol
its 100% a server lag issue. you need to try again during off hours. Unfortunately you cant do something like go into VH to remove the lag bc you have to be in Dalaran >.<

So I figured it out. Using a macro or not doesn’t matter. I tried it after work in my timezone which is an hour ahead of the server. Literally could not get higher than about 37. As people started to log on around 6 server it got even worse and I was getting maybe 20 catches. I took a break and then logged on about 9:30 PM server and tried and I was back to about 37 but some people were getting lucky and got it. Gave up and went to bed for a few hours and woke up at 3:30 server. Logged on to about 15 people in Dalaran and literally got it the first try with 5 seconds to spare. This is a lag issue for sure.

To add to this. If we could do it anywhere in the world but Dalaran this wouldn’t even be a problem but it comes down to the servers are much much larger than they used to be so there is more lag when several dozen people are trying this at once in a small area. You can actually create this same kind of lag if you and a dozen people go to Ironforge and all start smelting in the same place at once.

Used this when I was looking it up and i managed it with 15 inside the reagent room (the one right next to violet citadel). It’s a tight fit but i did it without a scrollwheel macro.
does haste affect this? I did it easily on my holy paladin with 900 haste but my wife’s hunter it took about 30 tries.
there’s 0 cooldown on the item so its not haste, its all lag
Can confirm, just logged in and it all happened way quicker than yesterday. So while technically not a bug, I think that given this achievement depends on server latency, I think it’s a good idea for blizz to consider removing this as a requirement.
Whats funny to me is that none of the 100+ old wowhead comments regarding this achievement mention any difficulty with lag… basically proving the longheld theory that the classic servers are worse today than they were 15 years ago

I think part of that is due to the change in the nature of server infrastructure. Back then servers were actual servers (or at least on their own physical device). Now everything is done using cloud computing. Meaning that unless applications access their cpu, memory, etc all on the same rack, instead of traveling across the local motherboard, they cross the network. It’s fine with low latency. But when latency increases, it slows that cloud computing WAY down.
confirmed on 4th toon that the deep underbelly of the sewers works fine when i cant get the achievement to work up in dal or in the entrance of the sewers. If you cant get it go down there and see if it helps!
For me, I took 40 torches down to where the entrance to the Dalaran sewer is, faced my character toward the arched wall, then bound the torches to the “1” key, which I spammed in conjunction to spam clicking my mouse
Your character is NOT acting the same as everyone elses. Your looting time is immediate.

This is straight up server lag. I can’t get past 26 torches no matter where I go. He will toss about 12 or so, then acts like he’s crafting something with his hands while doing nothing.
This better be fixed in tomorrow mornings patch or I’ll rage. I’ve been at this for a year to get this mount (on 3 characters no less!). Meanwhile, I can’t to do this acciev. I’m not convinced its lag because my server is pretty low population (Old Blanchy) and even now at midnight I still can’t do it (using the macro, mouse wheel bind, etc…).
auto clicker set to middle mouse, macro on middle mouse bind, 200 clicks per second. aim at feet and activate.
I got mine in Dalaran by the raised piece of grass patch Rhonin goes to spam voice lines.
