Imagine this- twice per day, there is an opportunity for the horde/alliance to capture a place like razor hill, brill, kharnos, etc then a 15 minute countdown starts, calling for the alliance/horde to gather in the captured camp for a raid on the opposite factions city. Both defenders and attackers have 15 minutes to form their groups, and have one hour from the start of the event to capture or defend the city. Buildable barracades, traps, reinforcements available for defenders during the first phase and buildable seige tools and battery rams for the attackers. Game is won when a faction leaders head is taken or when the time runs out. Imagine dropping a trap door with spikes at the bottom insta killing a mob of invaders, towers with fiery oil being poured on battery ram infantry, ladders being raised to scale city walls, this puts the war back in warcraft and can be used for nearly any old zones not just faction cities. Each player would get 3 lives only during the match, certain traps and seige weapons can only be used a limited amount of times, and would require real and unique strategy to win rather than just a free for all killing spree. Event can award rare mount/weapon/piece of gear for a random winner, and grindable (but not too grindy) currency for other less unique rewards. Upon winning a match you get a massive rep gain for whichever member of your factions side you fight on that you choose. Can be done twice per day event activates when a opposing camp (brill kharnos bloodhoof village etc) is captured to trigger event countdown. Can even take a step further and have players elect a war general, assign groups for infantry, cavalry, flanking, etc. Tell me this wouldnt be such a bad a** innovation to bring pvp and world content back to life
I sent in a suggestion that requested things like this - even war-quests (world) and/or a board or banner and portal to get you there from hubs to keep momentum going. It was quite some time ago.
It’s nice to see more people are interested in returning to the large world we have here on Live rather than nostalgia pounding classic over and over, though I see the appeal.
Transmog, rep and conquest, please! The leveling merge to a more sandbox-style phase is excellent. I asserted that more years ago than I can remember. Things like this , so long as they add a convenience aspect for travel with some meaty rewards could see the ultimate balance between theme-park progression and sandbox freedom. I don’t know many people that wouldn’t want that; It screams ‘good MMORPG’ as it’s inherent mantra.
This would also keep faction identity/the faction war that player’s love alive, and you’re right man world pvp quests would be a nice touch and a way to reuse all the content we have that is just irrelevant without nostalgia being the sole motivator
