The original game of WoW had some of the best and most memorable zones in video game history. What are your top 5 areas in WoW? Can include instances.
Mine are (in no particular order):
-
Eastern Plaguelands
-
Arathi Highlands
-
Ashenvale
-
Feralas
-
Teldrassil
- The Barrens
- The Crossroads
- Ratchet
- The Barrens
- The Gold Road
I survived Barrens chat 2004.

I always enjoyed the transition from Tirisfal to Western Plaguelands to Eastern Plaguelands. Things get more and more corrupted as you go.
But aside from that, I love the Searing Gorge and Burning Stepps with Blackrock Mountain in between. Itās a very flavorful zone.
But for a top 5, I have to pick the undead areas:
- Eastern Plaguelands
- Western Plaguelands
- Tirisfal Glades
- Silverpine Forest
- Hillsbrad Foothills

I primarily played Horde in Vanilla, but hereās my top 5:
-Elwynn Forest
Thereās something about this zone that just makes me happy to start a new human character.
-Duskwood
I like spooky haunted forest settings, so this was always one of my favorite zones, especially around Halloween.
-Silverpine Forest
Iām not sure why I like this zone so much, since itās fairly plain and lacks the historical importance of HIllsbrad (TM vs SS), and the starting zone nostalgia of Tirisfal Glades. But I spent a lot of time in this zone during the early months of Vanilla leveling multiple undead characters, so it always stuck with me.
-Winterspring
I always liked the snowy mountain setting and quest density, plus I usually saved this zone for hitting level 60. Every time I entered Winterspring I knew I was in the home stretch.
-Alterac Valley
I miss the days of hours / days long battles because I always enjoyed hanging out in this zone. 99% of the time I was PvPing, but every once in a while I would take a little time to relax and enjoy the scenery and explore.

I really liked this zones because they felt very ācompleteā from a sense of the lore, quests, type of mobs and how the zone looked.
My top 5
Westfall - this is a favorite being I was on my 1st character and it was the zone I was in when I was just really getting into the game
Duskwood - I love the spooky atmosphere and the fun of seeing Stiches demolish everyone on the road
Blackrock Depths - I love the huge sprawling epic feel of this dungeon
Alterac Valley - In itās earlier pre 1.12 state where a battle could go on for days It made it really feel like a siege!
Winterspring - Just because itās a beautiful winter wonderland.

Tough to pick just 5! Will say after spending the early levels in snow I really appreciated warmer zones later:
1-Hinterlands āhey warm Dwarves!ā
2-WPL/EPL for the lore as a Paladin
3-Tanaris/Desolace
4-UnāGoro cuz dinosaurs
5-Felwood

- Tirisfal - Iāve leveled so many Undead and the music and atmosphere in this zone is so haunting and perfect.
- Hillsbrad - World PvP, what else do you need?
- STV - I TRULY felt ālost in a jungleā here. Danger around every corner (enemy faction included), a fun aesthetic, Nesingwary shenanigans.
- UnāGoro - Easter Eggs! An incredibly fun, self-contained hub. Aggroing and getting chased by a T Rex was such sheer terror.
- Eastern Plaguelands - It felt like Dark Souls before Dark Souls existed. Another creepy zone with a very real sense of danger.
Vanilla had better zones than any expansion ever. And because the gameplay was so slow, you really got to dig into these zones, spend a ton of time in them, and understand them.

As someone that generally rolls undead, I like fighting enemies I can eat.
Hillsbrad (farmers, bandits)
Tanaris (ogres, pirates)
Arathi (farmers, bandits)
Stranglethorn (trolls, pirates)
I donāt grind on beasts because you canāt eat those.
Silverpine, Wetlands, STVā¦
