Top 3 worst villains in wow

Who would be considered the villains that are laughable in wow?

The Iron Horde is the first one that comes to mind.

I can’t quite think of 2 others.

Edit: N’zoth

“This is our world! We will find you!”

One hour later…

“Draenor is free!”

I think Grommash had a lot of potential but obviously with them having cut content it just comes off as laughable.

Are we talking major villains? Or are we including villains that aren’t meant to be taken seriously, like the Manastorms?

Because if we’re talking major villains meant to be serious threats to Azeroth but still ended up laughable, N’zoth tops that list for sure.

Thousands of years of planning to escape his prison, including the creation of races like the Naga and then when he finally pulls it off, he gets kamehameha’d like a moron.

Iron Horde is a serious runner up though. They were super scary and stuff in Tanaan and then we just beat them like a red headed step child until they cried uncle and were forced to drink demon blood and become Legion puppets.

Honestly, Blizzard can’t handle Lovecraftian horror. It’s not in their wheelhouse. It’s better that they flushed that down the toilet I think. Modern Blizzard is good at writing beat-em-up scenarios using beloved Warcraft 3 characters and that’s really about it.

Me, myself and I.

So far the Jailer is top 1, idk maybe after he shows his true intentions we may regard him as a super genius, but so far he’s super lame and dumb.

N’Zoth was pathetic too, as was Azshara, but to be fair these 2 were meant to be great, they were just unlucky to be made into bosses during the worst xpac in the history of the game which also happen to have probably the worst writing too, if they were given the attention hey deserved and their own expansions I imagine they would have been great.

The Lich King is the worst expansion villain ever.

Look, he’s an iconic character but that’s because of Arthas in WCIII. In Wrath, the Lich King was the most laughable awful villain ever.

Either of the Majordomos. They’re both nerds.

Jailer.

“NO ONE ESCAPES THE MAW! . . . . except for all those people I captured and the Maw Walker . . .”

N’Zoth

Super powerful old god behind the corruption of Deathwing, destroyed in a single patch, in a fight that literally involved konga lines . . .

Kel’thuzad

Started out strong . . . but holy crap how many times we gotta kill him?

FOUR TIMES! Four! WCIII, Naxx 1, Naxx 2, Cov Campaign. And he’s still not dead.

We get to kill him again in the upcoming raid!

Sylvanas is definitely in the top three. When characters have to be butchered for her plans to work (not butchered as in killed but butchered as in their writing was butchered to make them stupider than normal), that’s a serious problem with the character’s plans as a whole. And pretty much since Vol’jin’s death, characters had to be written as morons for her plans to come to fruition. That’s lazy writing, and it takes a lot away from her “conniving” personality because she was given her “victory” on a gold platter.

N’Zoth was done dirty, but it’s likely because Blizzard isn’t capable of writing the type of nuance and story required of a Lovecraftian inspired villain. It also didn’t help he was shoved into a truly horrible example and display of writing; the poor guy deserved to be treated so much better compared to what he actually got, but everything about him was honestly sad.

Kae’thas is probably the last one. Talk about character assassination. From being an anti-hero to a villain to another villain in TBC, he got beaten black and blue by the villain bat something fierce. I do hope he manages some level of redemption because the poor guy needs it. We’ll see if the modern writers can do him justice in Shadowlands here.
