I just want to clarify one thing. The character Leroy Jenkins was not original to WoW, even though WoW gets ALL the credit for it. Yes, even on Jeopardy.
Leroy Jenkins was a character in a Clive Cussler book titled FIRE ICE, and was published in May, 2003. A year and a half before WoW even launched.
My guess is the player was a fan of Cusslerâs, and named his character after the character in the book. The rest is history.
Clive Cussler never gets any recognition for originating the character name, so I feel obligated to give it to him here.
