Top 10 Worst Design Decisions in SL (My pick in no particular order)

Yeah, some specs are really suffering numerically (which is a separate issue from whether or not you like the playstyle). Hopefully Fury warriors and Frost mages can get some buffs now that Mythic Denathrius is down.

Covenants aren’t on the OP’s list either. I guess if you are casual enough (or at least not cutting edge), the DPS charts don’t matter as much, and you pick the covenant with the ability you like or the transmogs/mounts you want to farm.

I could add a few more to this list but I will go with one, freaking flight whistle.

I’m surprised this hasn’t been clarified yet by the devs (as far as I know), but WQ rewards seem to me to be based on your current iLvl level, with your renown level only raising the upper limit. The item level reward shown in the mobile app or while in Oribos in warmode can also vary from when you actually get to the zone (which the in-zone display being more accurate).

I am item lvl 190 and have kept up with renown, and have seen WQ rewards of up to 174. I have also gotten 187s from two of the epic calling caches, the neck and wand I have equipped now. However, my alts who have kept up with renown but are still in questing gear are seeing rewards of no more than 148 or 155.

Basically the only one that should probably be addressed, and I don’t even join groups in the Maw.

I agree with most of that stuff. They either need to remove so many group quests from Maw or fix it so you can actually get into a group without teleporting in and out.

I also feel like if they could award a piece of gear per week in Visions they could have a piece of loot per week in Torghast. Even if it was something similar to say the Great Vault where you got something at the end of the week based on your highest run.

  1. Crafted gear is once again, totally useless. By the time you have grinded venari rep to get crafters mark 2 which gives 160? gear, your WQ will be handing out 170 gear. I don’t even know where mark 3 comes from.

Im completely agreed with every point…

I don’t know what the dev have in mind…

Nothing fun or useful…

All of these things are baked in. They won’t fix them. SL is designed to burn time, so it looks to outside investors like you are enjoying the content.

Since time played is the new metric of success, rather then subs, this trend will continue.

  1. Although there is one quest chain to help a steward fly it doesn’t help the majority. Please have the Archon use our empowered thing to give the stewards wings along with the new ascended
    —This point is self explanatory.
    —Everyone loves the stewards.

Callings being nearly worthless and World quests offering nothing gear wise are my two biggest complaints. Shadowlands really feels like raid or die.

It was. Because at that time, there was no other difficulty tier for skilled players to attack.

How very noble of you to sacrifice my gameplay experience for your own self-interest.

  1. Small and frequent class changes
  • Instead of hammering a class or specialization into the dirt with outrageous nerfs, the game could use consistent lesser changes until a healthy balance of power among the specs has been reached.
  • Frequent changes help the developers stay engaged while keeping the players happy. Lesser changes ensure that a specialization isn’t rendered useless or forced to the bottom of the performance charts.

I feel like covenant armor has replaced WQ in terms of gearing up, yes they don’t give a weapon but all the armor can be upgraded to 196 when the campaign is completed which will put you above M0 gear. Of course with a new season this gear will more than likely be obsolete.

my experience differs from you, im fortunate to have more than 1 gear wq for an entire 24 hour period. And its generally greater than 20 ilvls below my lowest item. Being merely heroic dungeon geared and already 20 ilvls beyond world quests means the world quests become irrelevant a day or 2 after max lvl. Why bother having them? thats content that was coded to die anyway.

My guess is that covenant gear is going to be a later to mid expansion catch up for alts or late comers as the suuuuper slow trickle of 1-2 slots per week still means its not upgrading. I mean i have 2 world boss items, the covenant gear will never ever surpass them, and its only mere weeks into the expansion

While you can upgrade the covenant set from the campaign it costs alot of anima which you have a choice there cosmetics or gear depending what you do in game.

For me it’s too costly to even bother to upgrade the covenant set on alts as I have other plans for the anima.

There’s alot of timegating and nothing “meaningful” aside raiding/m+ to do right now… it totally feels like that AP grind totally left a huge hole in the game for now until twisting corridors opens I suppose.

The design of this is much like the Legion hidden appearances. At least one could be purchased off a vendor. Some dropped of random trash mobs. Some dropped off a world boss that was bugged and didn’t appear for a year. Disc priest was earned from a long involved questline that had to be completed the same week, or sucked to be you, no hidden appearance ever.

And guardian dropped off a raid boss. Took me 3 years to get.

That’s what you’re looking at guys.

Let’s not forget any Mage spec that wasn’t HEAVY Frost. The Arcane tree back then was basically only there to slightly buff the other two trees, and Fire was completely and utterly useless in MC and a decent chunk of BWL as well if I remember correctly.

As for the OP, I agree with most except for Threads of Fate. I leveled much faster doing that than I did doing the campaign, and campaign leveling was already pretty darn fast.

Reduced Loot from raid and m+ and reduced ilvl for 15s

Dungeon design philosiphy

Target cap ( could be same as dungeon design )

Alt leveling ( Threads of fate should be faster way faster, this goes along with dungeon design and target cap but bro if I wanna pay 100k to someone to boost me thru FH and get my alt to max level I should be able to do that )

They just slowed the game down tooooo much.

all we asked for was no titanforging no less loot

—Anima can no longer be farmed endlessly for power, so raiders are already protected from having to do boring daily chores.

2.2 -

—Titanforging and corruption are gone, so raiders would not feel forced into farming for upgrades.

8.2 -

—Titanforging and corruption are gone, so raiders would not feel forced into farming for upgrades.

You wrote items 2.2 and 8.2 twice, so this must be important to you.

It’s a good topic and I disagree with these parts. Thankfully, titan forging no longer exists in the game and thank God raiders don’t have to be farming forever.
