What do you guys think? What are your favorite WoW patches?
during WoD when we got the selfie camera was the best patch ever.
Who puts Argent Tourney in the top 10, let aline top 6? And above Ulduar, Throne of Thunder even?
Whoever did that video obviously hasn’t played Classic either. 1.12 as 3rd best patch?
1.12 is hot garbage on Classic and is the reason so many players have stopped playing the game.
It’s also the reason so many played in the first place. Classic before 1.12 is questionable for a lot of different reasons depending on the exact patch.

Argent Tourney was loads of fun and brought some of the best looking gear sets in the Lich King era.
It was a combined personal top 10 list, with a scoring system/process of elimination from 3 of the district gamers. 2 out of 3 are still currently active on WoW classic, 1 out of the 3 hit level 60 within a month and already finished all the raids, and is now actively on PVP.
While I do agree that 1.12 is no where near my list, it was the beginning/first time honor was created, giving warcrafters more of a reason to attack their opposite faction.
Whichever one changed Mend Pet from a channeled spell into a HOT.
This was imho, the single greatest change ever made to the game.
Honor was released in 1.4 was it not? 1.12 was the linked bg stuff or something i think.
Personal opinion is that Throne of Thunder should be higher, and possibly Ulduar. I guess the big difference is what comes in the patch and who it appeals to as there is a lot of variance.
Some patches like Black Temple and ulduar introduced some of the best raids, but not much else aside from that. Whereas others like Argent Tourney as you mentioned had a relatively lack lustre raid but also had a lot of other content for more casual players.
Personally I would have put the Cata patch with Zulaman and ZG heroic remakes somewhere within the top 10 simply as they were some of the most fun dungeons.
7.3.0 alt friendly, Antorus introduction, no level scaling. Heirlooms still worked
2.3.0 (zul Aman)… TBC at the height
1.10 weather effects /kreygasm

It was added before 1.4 not sure exactly which patch but WoW classic added it before it released their battlegrounds.

ToT and Ulduar are definitely amazing. That is the problem with most top 10 lists, is that it is hard for everyone to agree on accurate placement but they’re mostly used for recognition. Similar to the game awards choosing nominees and a game of the year. Both the nominees and goty are worth playing most of the time but not everyone is going to agree that one certain game is king above all.

I personally enjoyed the rep. grind of the Argent Tournament, it was something new and fun. Revisiting the area and hearing the music still brings back memories.

Which Cata patch? The final end game raid? If so, that is very notable as I think that is the first time raid finder was added to the game.
Ah, Patch 6.1
A Huge Major Content Patch where all that was added was a S.E.L.F.I.E Camera. Best content patch ever.
The ZA + ZG patch was an in between patch I think. I can’t remember exactly the one but it was before Dragon Soul was released, it would have either been the one in between release and firelands, or between firelands and dragon soul.
I played from 4.3 onwards, so I’ll post only my top 5:
5.2 (Isle of Thunder + Throne of Thunder, lots of lore and story. This should be the benchmark of a great patch)
7.1 (Karazhan, Nighthold, Suramar Insurrection storyline)
7.3 (Argus, Antorus)
5.4 (Siege of Orgrimmar, would rank higher if story out of the raid and world content was better)
5.1 (Lion Landing/Dominance Point storyline, best non-raid story patch ever)
Patch 9.2 is going to be the best.

The cool thing I like about retail and previously newer patches is that it focuses on the story mode. WoW classic and BC are my favorite expansions but that was one thing they lacked. The presentation of delivering an immersive storyline.
It’s the backport not the patch. 1.12 works just fine under its old engine. The Legion engine has different animations and spell batching is a failure since the batch never ejects interrupted enemy attacks.
Oh ok makes sense
