SO why does every one of my abilities lose 100-200 points of damage in PvP? I have a 1004 tooltip Mutilate and it drops to 936, Envenom goes to 2036 to 1896, rupture from 4405 to 4106, garrote 3164 to 2936? Im at 20% vers with 2 trinkets and it doesnt seem to add anything to any damage?? and on hitting pvp test dummies in SW i dont even break 900 on regular mutilate hits??
Looks like the 8% buff to assassination we got recently was just for PVE, it goes away in pvp. And i still cant figure out if versatility does anything in pvp with the 2pce trinket bonus. it didnt look like anything changed tooltip or on a PvP target dummy.
Because a lot of abilities do less damage in PvP than in PvE.
You’ll notice that with your talents easiest.
A lot of times the tooltips or descriptions will read “effectiveness reduced against enemy players” or something similar. That tells you the ability has been adjust for PvP.
A lot of abilities have hidden modifiers on them in PVP. I remember in Legion, Holinka(Or some other Blizzard dude) maintained a thread on the PVP forums that had a list of all the PVP modifiers. Unfortunately, it seems that thread is gone. Hopefully one day they return that. Because it can be very confusing for someone who isn’t aware Blizzard does that to see it in-game. Especially considering most tooltips don’t even tell you that happens. I think currently the only ones that do are like CC abilities that say they don’t last as long against players.

Those modifiers no longer apply, its quite different now. But yes as others have stated, many differences between PvE and PvP values.
Even so, with 20% vers and 2 pc pvp trinkets applied the damage value should go up to around 1000-1100 for mutilate, but it stays the same. I’m not sure if pvp target dummies have an armor value on them, but abilities hit less then tooltip consistently.
Because Blizzard sucks at class design so badly that they cant seem to work out that you tune classes for PVP then develop Raid boss damage, and health pools and PVE mechanics in general to work for PVP oriented Class designs.
This way you get ONE set of values for the whole game, I know… I know, its a complicated process.

There was an expansion a few years back where everyone went into BGs with predetermined pvp stat templates.
That wasn’t very popular.
No, they still exist. I can actually give you a list of ones for Subtlety currently.
Nightstalker is reduced to 8%
Soothing Darkness is reduced to 1%/s
Prey on the Weak is reduced to 5%
Eviscerate, Rupture, and Secret Technique are being reduce by ~5%.
Shadow Blades is reduced to 30%.
I could be wrong but I believe for Assassination, Nighstalker is reduced to 25% from 50% and Subterfuge’s Garrote buff is reduced from 80% to 40%.
I have no idea about Outlaw.

Seems like damage mods like this are from a different expansion that carried over. It just seemed weird that an 8% blanket damage reduction on any class in PvP in the meta we are in right now. I’m guessing once it hits the high end of gear the 8% will be really noticeable.
They never adjusted the PVP auras since Legion in a mass scale which is why there is a strange balance across all three specs.
Given that it has been so long and the template system doesn’t exist they need to revisit these PVP auras. But I think that BlizZard is scared because they fear more will break if they undo these changes in PVP auras.
