I was playing as normal when I went to hand in a quest and discovered that I couldn’t see the gear rewards. The icons were there but there was no tool tip. I then opened my bag and character sheet and discovered that no items had tool tips showing anymore. I do not have any add ons. I tried both reloading my ui and logging out and back in, but neither changed anything. I submitted a bug report but this seems like a big issue as it makes the game largely unplayable.
Edit: Restarted game, no luck. Rolled a new character, no luck. Turned off Gamepad UI, tool tips magically started working again.
2nd edit: Updated graphics driver, restarted PC. Still doesn’t work.

Same problem here. Just on gamepad mode. Game actually runs cleaner on controller in the standard interface with a few button remaps than it does in the controller interface. Glad it’s just alpha.

I found a solution from a wonderful person on Reddit. In gamepad mode, open your bags and click R3 (right analog press). This turned them back on for me.

Holy smokes batman. This worked. Thank you for this. I saw someone saying that you should go to the options and that’s the issue (Toggle Item Compare) but it wasn’t, disabling and enabling did nothing. Pressing R3 worked like a charm! Thank you man!

Stats are missing from tooltips on lots of AH items as well. Nothing like buying a random green piece of armor for your Pally, and not discovering until after you buy it that it’s “of the Tiger” and not “of the Bear” or “of the Eagle” like you were hoping. 
And I’m on a mouse and keyboard, not a controller, so I don’t think it has anything to do with that.
this is the fix…can’t believe I spent so long scratching my head over this…
