Finally cleared 8/8 last night. Took 6 weeks, but it happened. Had to bring 28-35 people each week to prog. Darn if that didn’t feel awkward. Scrambled to find/recruit more weekly. Was a mess and having to pug those extra people wasn’t ideal for the guild, especially since we’ve been 20’ish people since forever, especially with seeing the already scarce loot going to non guildies.
Being totally honest here, but the kill didn’t even feel great when Caldo was downed (what a lackluster 2nd outside phase right)? The sarcasm of voices in discord was “Yay … we cleared it with 30+ people”. Majority didn’t have 4pc, some still don’t have 2pc.
Is everyone in the raid a 100 parser, no way. But not everyone is only pulling greys, I’d say 75% or more are above the average.
All in all, I did like the idea/theme/style of the raid. Just really wish it was made for 20’ish players and/or at least had difficulty modes, like EVERY OTHER RAID IN SoD. And yes it being week 6, I personally think they should have added the incremental % buff, hell something by now? Buller, Buller, this thing on?
SoD has a history of being “quiet on the blue post western front” so to speak, everywhere but content creators youtube videos it seems, so I’m trying not to hold my breath, but I seem to favor that hard Copium as of late. Not the greatest way to end this version of classic imo.
Again I’m not trying to convince anyone otherwise these are just my feelings over the last month roughly. Am I in the minority of thinking? This can’t be just me right? How’s everyone else progress going? **Le sigh

with around avg (blues and above or even just all blues) parses you can clear with less but your execution of the fight has to be spot on for p1 and ashbringer phase of the clad fight.
as you noted , if you get past p1 and ashbringer phase with 20 or so up , you will win the fight almost assuredly .
the other fights are quite doable with even less execution than that (though voss is painful with people dropping things in the wrong places or stacking with the flame) .
counsel is routine too.
i dont quite know what they can do to adjust the cald fight without gutting it and making it feel worthless.
its a heavy fight .
I just really want them to nerf trash mob and mini-boss health, less time on trash for the love of the light.

I still think the raid easy if you have good players. Don’t invite dead weight and its cleared in under 2hrs
This is only true if those players were fortunate to gear out over 6 weeks.

we hit the enrage timer on council with 20 at 15% lol. we had 4 dead and a bunch of green parsers and some grays. a couple purples.
Everyone should have the 2set by now making it a lot easier. The problem is you have people with 1k+ gearscore struggling to do 2k dps fully wb. I never understand players that can’t do atleast 3k dps but want to go do SE. On CS we have a pug discord where we only take good player and clear it in about 1hr and 30mins.
I had the same experience in the raid took a while to prog it down… but it was fun and worth it got both the beatrix and caldoran mount <3
“Good” can be subjective, how much gear you’re taking into SE too matters definitely. We definitely don’t have everyone pulling purps or higher. I think we downed it finally with 31 people. Still they should have added difficulty levels imo. I think 1000% this final phase/raid would have been more well recieved.
I get there is a big power spike with 2pc and on (for SOME Classes) but thinking about longevity and people wanting to bring alts to this later once mains are geared gives me the heebie jeebies, pure cringe. The thought of having to bring 40 people to gear alts continuously, no thanks that sounds so tiring if and when that time rolls around.

People’s voice has been heard. With how many threads there have been made about asking for nerfs, there’s no way the devs haven’t seen them. They just don’t care. They say “git gud”.
Aggrend CLAIMS he isn’t saying “git gud”, but actions speak VOLUMES over words…
If we’re getting any nerfs or the buff at any point, it’s probably not for another month or so. They want us to continue bringing 30+ people and feel good about it. lol.

And by git gud they all mean just bring 35+ players to this 20 man raid.
Flex raid size has been terrible for the SE raid.
If the majority of groups are bringing 30+ players to a 20 man raid that’s a bad thing. It’s not like these are guilds that have 30 people and don’t want to bench people. They’re 20 man guilds that are having to pug 10+ extra people because their 20 man has no chance at coming close to a full clear.

You’re acting like every single group is forced to pug extra people just to clear the raid, but that’s not universally true. My main guild runs with 40 people—not because we need extra bodies, but because we choose not to bench people. That’s a guild decision, not a necessity. We don’t pug anyone, and we still clear it just fine.
Also, I raid and clear 8/8 on two other alts in a 25-man roster, again with no pugs—that’s just how our raid comp is set up. SE is perfectly doable without max-stacking if the group is competent. The fact that some guilds struggle doesn’t mean the raid is overtuned—it means those groups need to tighten up their execution and gearing instead of looking for nerfs.
Nah there have been a lot of players across the game who have been showing up to raids with barely a pulse throughout SoD. I’ve seen even when geared these players can barely perform.
SE has simply been showing that groups need everyone on-board rather than leaving a handful to carry the rest as tends to be the case.
You have public logs. Bringing 37+ people and not full clearing until the 4th lockout. You guys needed the extra bodies.
The raid is “tuned for 20”, so youre admitting you cant do that in any of your 3 groups.
I think I’m missing the logic around your comment.
So basically, you’re only inviting the best players with the best gear (the most optimal group) and then boast about getting it done in a short amount of time, while shaming others for not being elite? There’s a word for that, and I think it’s called “Elitism”.
You failed to mention though how many people you invited and how many cleared it. Of course if you invite the best of the best and get it done with 30+ people, it’s gonna be easy mode.
But to us mere mortals, it’s a tough raid to get done with the loot as scarce as it is. The fact it is supposed to be scaled to 20 man, but most groups that have cleared it already needed 30+ says the raid need to be nerfed more.
On my horde druid, I’m 7/8 in SE atm with bringing 31 players. We barely reached Caldoran last week, so still learning p1.

This is the average players experience in this raid so far. 30+ players. Struggle and maybe go 7/8 in one raid night. Then cannot get enough to show up for a second raid night for cald attempts.
Per wcl, for the 21-40 man bracket, 720 guilds have full cleared. 854 have not.
The majority of guilds bringing 21-40 players have not full cleared this 20 person raid 5 lockouts into the phase.

Funnily enough one could argue that unless in a zerg group, bringing more than 20 can be a detriment on Caldoran if you have 5+ people who bloody panic whenever they have to drop fire even after hours’ worth of attempts.
Above average for sure. Almost perfect playing with anything close to 20. I’ve for sure met my share of mouth breathing fully BiS p7 players, some of who didn’t know what their tier bonuses/runes do, or that they had higher ranks of spells they still needed to learn. But SE is definitely not centered around or was made for the average 20 man team. Little to no room for error isn’t fun I think to a majority of players. At least not imo.
Really wish after 20 some years of this game being a thing they did player surveys (no not once a year before an expansion use to come out surveys). I don’t know if FF, AO, RS are as frequent as they use to be but the amount of feedback and data one would think you could gather almost instantaneously from your player base sounds like a much better way to improve and in turn relay what the devs plans are based on feedback.
That’s really not to much to ask right? I mean hell a blue post more than once every 6 months not pertaining to patch notes or copy pasted data (remember how much of that there was) would at least put the devs in better light. But Instead you have to go to a random youtubers video and look in the comments section for updates. I wouldn’t even call those updates, I’d call that saving face at a bare minimum

It’s embarrassing how simple the mechanics on Caldoran actually are, yet how many groups run with absolute dunces who panic or have the reaction time of snails screwing up what is a simple ‘drop fire at X/Y spot’.
I had been enjoying the feeling of real prog myself, but hot damn.
