Too punishing for new toons

This system is a lot more punishing than it needs to be for new toons and alts. It isn’t even remotely fun.

what system? you’re going to need to be more specific.

Ok. No soul ash catch up. Gear is too hard to get even now and pvp is a nightmare.

Agree too disagree.

Soul ash is for a legendary item. Should you just get one when you ding 60? Even then the 1250 for rank 1 can be gotten as soon as you hit 60 albeit with a little effort.

You can get to 197 quick enough with covenant gear. That is more than a fair head start on gearing.

Can’t comment much on PvP but pretty sure sucking it up and taking your lumps until your gear level catches up is not something exclusive to shadowlands.

when they annouced alts would be easy and this expansion would be alt friendly, i had a different idea in mind. i was thinking getting my alt up to my mains ilvl and ready to crack some heads in 15’s was going to be lightning fast. i was definitely wrong. im dissapointed its not the case but im not here to give my opinion because its just a never ending battle when it comes to alts and the forums.

what they actually meant is we dont have to grind ap forever.

Why do so many people think that ALT means “just as geared as my main, but with almost no time or effort”? Alt means a lot of different things to different people, but I don’t think anyone should ever think that alt gearing should get you over 200 in only a few days? Or a week?

Alt to me means whatever character I level after my main. Honestly the fact they have any catch up at all is a blessing. There is really no reason it shouldn’t take just as long as your main.

Bolvar’s quests are mostly unlocked now, so they’re not weekly timegated, except for a couple. Those give you ash. Layer unlocks are account wide, so you can go with a group and get the max amount of ash. Thus, rank 1 legendary in a week-ish.

Gear is stupid easy to get if you PvP or just get your Renown.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I have no idea, but it’s hilarious every time I see it. And then I headdesk and.roll my eyes.

i have no idea why you even have to make these types of remarks. just makes me laugh at you and roll my eyes

No you’re wrong - I’ve level 3 alts thus far and have managed to get 2 of them up around ilvl 200 without any issues and the third one is fresh. I have enough Soul Ash to make legendaries on those two toons - ( I haven’t yet since I haven’t decided what I want them to ultimately be specced to do - but I have the ash).

Yup. It’s pretty easy to get around 200 ilevel in about week or so. And I run Torghast with my guild group, which makes even layer 8 super easy and quick. I’ve got more soul ash than I can use, because the crafted pieces are too expensive on my realm and none of our leatherworkers have gotten up to rank 4 yet.

200 ilevel is about 20 ilevels behind. You will get 2 shot in pvp and no one will take you in pugs

Progression. Heard of it? Maybe quit droopy dogging after getting declined from a +10 you have no business applying for and run some 2 or 3s.

If Blizzard balanced things decently this wouldn’t be as big a problem. But they don’t. If your main sucks you either reroll or you are gimp most if not all the expansion.

Imagine if Blizz nerfed your class to the ground like they are known to do. Would you be happy taking weeks to be viable?

Because in an era of classes and specs being on-rails and feeling stale, it doesn’t make sense to gatekeep players, many of them veterans, from enjoying the content at levels they are used to.

I wouldn’t give a flying crap about gear if it didn’t impact how your class feels to play. That’s one of the appeals of Classic where a good player can get results even if they are undergeared compared to another player.

The game is old and stale; why Blizzard hasn’t moved their systems to an account level so people can log on whichever character they enjoy and be viable is beyond me.

I main fury for good or ill. You are never forced to reroll and maybe if you are the type to hunt fotm classes you should actively have a few leveled already.

I think the only valid complaint is PVP. Here is what I and many others do. I for example got 1800+ in rbgs. I hold my rating in rbgs by playing 1 game a week, but here is the problem. With nearly 40k hp I go into arenas, I tank my rating and than I absolutely smash all the 30k players to conquest cap. It’s toxic, I’m sorry. It’s not personal, it’s just business.

While I do think some of the system stuff should be account-wide, I don’t think that includes gear.

Yes, make Garrison Resources, Pet Battle charms, Class Hall Resources, War Resources, and maybe anima or renown progress account-wide, but I feel like you have to gear up the usual way. If endgame is your goal, you should have to work at it… at least in patch x.0.
