Too many world buffs is not appealing to skilled players

Coming from 99 parsing several times on retail, I can honestly tell you that if I have to grab world buffs to 99 parse in classic I will NEVER doit. This presents the wrong message to the community that these players are good when in fact they just have too much time on their hands.

People will gaslight you until you just not get the world buffs, but this is akin to saying “just play without gear on” if content is a pushover. The meta matters, and world buffs should be eliminated. The remedy for pushover content is making it not a pushover.

Even classic players don’t like world buffs.

There was a loud minority who didn’t complained about the lack of world buffs in Season of Mastery and Blizzard unfortunately listened to them for SoD.

Parsing in Classic is a joke.

With gear being equal: the difference between a purple parse and a orange/pink parse in classic is:
Passives. (Consumes, world buffs)

A purple parse without more than the standard world buffs such as the boss head reward and maybe Sayge’s buff, is doing all the same things in raid at the same rate as someone with an orange or pink parse. The same positioning and casts, just without several of the passives such as songflower, the Dire Maul tribute buffs, and extra consumes such as dragonbreath chili or winter squid.

Basically:
Anyone who just has the basic world buff with a few appropriate elixirs and is parsing high blue or purple would be parsing orange or pink with them.
The upper 15% of parse in classic is brought to the raid, not executed in the raid.

As long as people understand that, world buffs are fine. They provide a boost, and they provide more incentive to stay alive and succeed.

If they weren’t good, they wouldn’t be parsing 99 even with world buffs.

Most raids will only expect you to have Might of Stormwind (Warchiefs Blessing) and Dragonslayer Buffs and they both drop in SW/Ogrimar.

Also on Wild Growth at least you probably will be expected to bring a flask for the weekly raids as flasks are under 20g here.

Imo the only problem with world buffs is that they eliminate your chances at getting a decent log after one death. Aside from that, they are a great part of the game that incentivizes players to actually go out and interact with the game world rather than just sitting in the main city all day.

If you care more about being able to conveniently hop into raids and playing the game competitively than experiencing the game world, cataclysm and retail exist. However classic is as much about the fantasy as it is about the gameplay, and you can’t have worldbuilding without players actually needing to step foot outside of org/stormwind

there’s no such thing as too much time.

Warrior’s Mini Dragonslayer buff is hopefully going to help with that.

You are not good because you can press 2 3 e 4 1 1 e 4 1 1 e 4 11

skilled players don’t need the buffs

Make sure you get all the buffs.
