Too Many Crits Question

Hello all, I sincerely enjoy the Pet Battle aspect of the game, except I am almost convinced that Blizz is cheating for the wild pets you fight…
It seems almost so constant that I can just bet on them getting a MASSIVE number of critical hits during a fight, and also it seems that their low chance to proc attacks seem to come through whenever it is convenient for them.
Is this normal, because I thought that the chance of a critical hit was quite low, I KNOW that my pets almost never get one, and when I have an attack with a 25% chance to stun opponents, it almost NEVER does so. Unfortunately, for Blizzard’s little pet teams, the 25% chance attacks proc any time it would mess up my strategy.
I have literally seen fights where they truly get a critical with every single attack, and 25% chance attacks hit every single time the entire fight.
Stupid me, I thought a 25% chance meant that it only happens once out of four times, not every time it is off cooldown, but the Frogs especially, with that attack that has a 25% chance to turn you into a frog for a round, almost turn you to a frog every time the attack comes up.
HOW MANY TIMES IN A ROW CAN A 25% CHANCE OCCUR??
Also, WHAT is their critical hit chance, like 90%, or something??

Maybe I am just ranting, but it is confusing / upsetting, when it happens, and is starting to turn me off to pet battles in the game, because of the seemingly OVERWHELMING amount of cheating involved.

I have noticed this with many things in the game that claim to have a percentage chance, that it is always low for you, but apparently guaranteed for them.
RNG BLOWS!!

This is what is known as observer bias. You only remember when your moves fail, or when his crit, which makes it feel like those happen more often. When yours succeed or his miss, you just chalk it up to your own good play and forget about it as data. If you were to painstakingly record how often everything happens though (and I’m not suggesting you should), you’d find the numbers pan out as advertised.

Many fights are inherently random. Being a pet battler means being prepared to ride some bumps and restart a few battles when the crits don’t go your way.

I think it’s pretty well accepted that Blizzard gives the pets you battle an edge in their RNG chances, especially with the Trainer battles, but it’s not nearly as huge as what you’re saying.

Try out Minidecay’s suggestion, carefully record the stats on your fights over several dozen battles, I think you’ll see that your opponents’ RNG not that much better than yours. Doing that was an eye-opener for me.

So you are looking at the percentage spread, and it seems you winning is a pretty safe bet? That’s gambling, and in gambling the House owns the odds. Try to NEVER bet by the percentages while in Azeroth, not in pet battles or on the mission tables, not anywhere you see a %. In the Pet Battles you have to try to play past that percentage point. RNG sucks. Good luck, but don’t bet on it.

I have read the responses here, and do not agree that I am overstating a fact at all…
I recently was trying to battle Xorvasc, and found that there is almost no possible way to win this pet battle, because Blizzard gives them SO MANY CRITICAL HITS. Also, when ever I get a critical hit, which almost NEVER happens, I DO notice it, but is almost guaranteed to be worthless, unlike theirs, I will get a critical hit when their guy has like 40 health left, and would have died anyway.
I have to agree with what Llars wrote, that "Try to NEVER bet by the percentages while in Azeroth, not in pet battles or on the mission tables, not anywhere you see a %. I say this because I am almost convinced that Blizzard does not understand how percentages work, and thusly seem to always get them wrong, in their favor of course!!

PS. @Santaclaws
It IS as huge as I am saying, you are just a Blizzard apologist for some reason!!

8 different strategies to defeat Xorvasc. Between “very reliable” and “foolproof”.

Evidence please?

Because what you are reporting is not what I’m seeing, and I do a minimum of 12 pet battles each day. Sometimes the trainers seem to get all the luck, and sometimes I seem to get all the luck. The difference is trainers getting runs of luck is much more memorable than things “going right”.

By the way, neither bold type and nor the use of ad hominems constitute evidence.

What are you talking about, use of ad hominems / bold type, do not constitute evidence??
I do not again, ignore it when I get lucky, as I responded to someone earlier who made that exact statement. Sorry of the bold type threw you off

I will reply to that by saying, just _using $500 words, does not give you a point to make. Also, neither does cutting and pasting a previous comment.
That having been said, it is near impossible to provide solid evidence of the game cheating in a pet battle, and thus Blizzard is free to do whatever they want with it, so while, I am happy that it has not happened to you, it HAS happened to me numerous times, and I wish you would please go bother somebody else’s thread, in your attempts to make Blizzard like you. :unamused:

As for the strat posted in a link above, I do not have the Ghastly Kid, and so this is not available to me to use for this fight, which I DID actually win, and ended up having to put in a Ticket, because it did not give me the quest rewards. (Blizz) :unamused:
Following up that it is too late now, because the World Quest for this pet battle is gone now. :confounded:
I actually won, and then got hit by yet ANOTHER Blizzard bug that did not give me the credit for the win. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
Once again here in the forums, PLEASE do not respond to posts, you know nothing about, just to troll someone.
I am certain that it makes you feel more important to attack someone else’s post, even if you have nothing constructive to add, but save it,
This is over for me, the World Quest involved has disappeared now, and I do not know when it will come back, like EVERYTHING in the game now, it is totally up to that Broken RNG mess that Blizzard has allowed to conquer the game!!

There are 8 alternate strategies (all of which do not require Ghastly Kid) listed on that guide page. You have to hover over the tab on the right side of the main box to see them, and then click on the one you want to view. It’s the same for all guides posted on Xu-Fu’s website.

I’m sorry you’re so terribly upset over a pet battle.
Perhaps you’d like a little hug?

Some of us, like ME, respond to seeing a lengthy screed with ALL THOSE capitals AND bolds AND italics, and now EMOTICONS too, with an understandable reaction, why bother reading this ?

We’re not trolling you, really kind of hinting you need to be a little easier on your readers.

Since I know this topic will probably come up again in the future, see the following image: https://i.imgur.com/c60oExa.png

The tab with the giant red arrow pointing at it? Hover your mouse over that and a window will pop up with a list of strategies (including the one with the Ghastly Kid). You can click on any of those alternate strats and it’ll show you the team and process.
