Too many buttons

Thank you! When I return from my vacation in a week, I’ll have to try them out.

You can also modify my version for Druid and Shaman. I originally found these for Shaman and figured out Priest and Druid on my own. Having trouble converting them for Paladin and Evoker though. Not finding many spells that work in a similar manner to each other.

why is this spell so bad man

Your macros are awesome, BTW, but I’ve found a way to clean some of them up (shorter macros are always better since space is limited):

#showtooltip
/use [@mouseover,nodead,help] FLASH HEAL; SMITE

#showtooltip
/use [@mouseover,nodead,help] HEAL; HOLY FIRE

#showtooltip
/use [@mouseover,nodead,help] HOLY WORD: SERENITY; HOLY WORD: CHASTISE

#showtooltip
/use [@mouseover,nodead,help] RENEW; SHADOW WORD: PAIN

#showtooltip
/use [@mouseover,nodead] MIND VISION

#showtooltip
/use [@player] ANGELIC FEATHER
/stopspelltarget

(This one ^ could also be a /use [@mouseover, nodead] spell I believe)

#showtooltip
/use [@cursor] MASS DISPEL

And this one:

#showtooltip
/cast [spec:3,@mouseover,help,nodead] Purify Disease; [@mouseover,help,nodead] Purify; [@mouseover,harm,nodead] [harm] Dispel Magic; [spec:3] Purify Disease; Purify

I need to look at it more. I haven’t tested it, so I don’t know if it can be shortened or modified at all. I’d have to look into what it’s doing.

Hope these help someone.

Edit: As you can see I edited most of them to be mouseovers. If you don’t know how that works, you can mouseover a target OR their bar and cast. In the case of the “harm” side of the spell, I find it easier just to target them directly, and I use the mouseover part for healing (usually on the party/raid bars).

You don’t HAVE to use them as mouseovers, I just find it easier for me.

I prefer the spells to appear and function as heals on my bars first and foremost, then change to damage spells once I target an enemy. I appreciate the effort to try and make them more efficient though.

I hate mouseover functionality. I find that it always messes me up.

A tip though is that to achieve mouseover on all spells without making a macro for everything is to just go into the WoW options and turn the mouseover setting on.

Yes you heard me right. You can check a box in the options in game with no addons or macros. All spells that you can cast on other targets can be made mouseover with a check box.

It shocks me how many people don’t realize this!

Literally search “Mousover Cast” in the options, and check it on. You can also add a modifier key for it or leave it at none and it will work with no modifier key.

The only time anyone should use a mouseover macro anymore in my opinion is when they only want to turn that functionality on only for a specific spell, like how I have it in my Purify macro.

For someone like me who remembers WotLK, Divine Hymn is a hollowed, bombed out shell of what it was. That was a RAID SAVING cd. And now it’s like a dog peeing through a fire hose worth of healing and people just die while you stand there channeling like an idiot.

It’s actually pretty strong (in raids, not 5-man content) - because you’re buffing the healing off all the other healers by 20-30%. It just doesn’t look strong because that healing doesn’t get attributed back to us but to them.

I do still feel healing needs to be about doubled in 5-mans.

And Gales of Song should absolutely let us move while channeling it.

It’s so fun buffing other ppls healing and them begging them to carry me around the battlefield wow.

Not mad at you just. The absolute state of this class.

I think Holy Word: Salvation has taken the role of a huge pumper heal on a long CD (Divine Hymn CD used to be upwards of 8 minutes, and now it’s 3).

Now Divine Hymn really does just function more as a healing booster on a relatively shorter CD.

The issue here is that HW: Salvation is only ever going to be used in raids because you wouldn’t want to drop Apotheosis in 5-player content and HW: Salvation doesn’t make sense in short form content. So, Hymn in 5-mans when talented ends up feeling worse than in the past due to its new role.

It makes me think of a similar situation with Mage. Mirror Image used to be a mini damage CD. Then, it was changed to solely function as a defensive CD. To this day, people still think it boosts damage. While the spell’s function has changed, people’s perception has not.

Am I the only one who uses mouse buttons for heal and keyboard for dps? Just seems so clean and have so much real estate left

When Ulduaar came out alongside the first time ever the ability to swap to a second spec without resetting your talents at a class trainer was the first time since Classic that I raid healed a 10 man Heroic boss group as a Holy Priest.

It was fun swapping back and forth per fight where sometimes ill be Holy and heal and other times I was Shadow while the 2 shamans were Elem/Resto and Enhance/Resto and between us 3 we kept swapping specs to what seemed best choice of success be it needing more ranged or melee or more raw healing and saving power that Holy brought.

But back to the point, I really felt that saving power of Divine Hymm and recall it coming in really handy on 3 tree Freya fight.

Actually enjoyed healing lol.

That was the last time I actually raided as Holy Priest lol.

I have my own weird internal language for it. First row is for mobility, second row is for AOE or DPS, and the third row is for the ‘primary’ GCD heals. At least on Holy. On Disc it’s the same except second row is AOE atone heals (Radiance, Halo) and row 3 is for atone appliers.

Main abilities are on 1-6 for Disc.

All of mine are mouiseovers.

I, of course, can’t find my dang macro file, but I have a few paired up.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead] Smite; [@mouseover,help,nodead] [help] Flash Heal; Smite

I use smite/flash heal, Holy Fire/renew and SW:Pain/Heal. Then I use regular mouseovers for Serenity, PoM, PI and I have an old one for power word life.

Not perfect but works.

If your macros are already linked and working online but you simply are unable to find the location of your game files, you can open the folder where your wow game files exist through the blizzard game launcher. Should be a gear icon next to the big play button that you can click and explore game file location or something like that.

That should bring you to your game folder and simply navigate to your macro folder which should be the WTF folder and of course you need to pick the server and character folders etc.

Hopefully that was helpful enough.

I’m on Linux.

It’s not where the launcher says it is.

The way I’ve done it for years is with Bartender addon, it lets you set mousover functionality for speciffic bars. Probably not worth installing the addon for this feature alone but if, like me, you are already using Bartender then it’s a pretty nice feature.

Interesting… I share the feeling somewhat, the combination of mouseovers and help/harm macros I think can get messy, but in my case I go for the other approach…

I find mouseover casting a must have as a healer to be more efficient (and honestly for something like Disc to even play the spec smoothly)… So I don’t use help/harm macros because it can get messy with it.

I guess my equivalent to what some players do for help/harm modifiers would be shift/ctrl modifiers, again I use bartender for this so I don’t have to write a bunch of macros to assign shift/ctrl modifiers, instead I just use actionbar paging so while I hold the shift/ctrl key my main bars will shift to different ones (and I can just drag spells normally from the spellbook).

iv never used mouse over macros, or healing add ons i just use the default UI and click on people names in the grid thing i dont really push for high end keys just to get my mythic mogs and shoulder effects, i dont really care about the portals or mount but ill get them cuz i want the effect. and i dont mythic raid. i do very well on my pure mw healer. i would like to try out other healers but all these buttons is over whelming.

I can’t heal without mouseovers.

Also I find a weakaura that puts a circle or something on your mouse pointer a must have. How this isn’t a Default option I’ll never know. I’m tired of losing my mouse cursor.
