How are players managing having so many different abilities? I have a Razer Naga + Razer trinity gamepad- Effectively, I can keybind about 24 hotkeys efficiently- however, I’ve got nearly 40 different keybindings that my enhancement shaman needs in order to be viable. The unpruning seems a little over the top for me personally, but I’d just like to know how others are working around this.
It depends on the class.
Some classes did not have much in the kit, and the extra was fine. Other classes was already bloated and the extra just feels tedious, and some classes just got skills they dont need to use.
It is a mess.
Yeah I felt the same thing too. I don’t understand why Ret Pally has the Shield of Righteous
I just decided not to use some spells that don’t work for my… prepatch mechanic lol
You don’t have to use them all. As a Fury Warrior, there’s a few spells that I won’t ever put up on my skills bar because those abilities require me to be wielding a shield.
It’s okay to have extra abilities and spells as utility and for fun.
Like Eyes of the Beast for Hunter that was brought back. It isn’t needed, but it’s a fun ability.
Just don’t use what you don’t need to use.
I do like having Ignore Pain as a Fury Warrior, so it’s not all bad.
Hehe Warlock go tap tap tap tap tap
Remember off-tank dps?
You can also swap weapons while in combat.
Breh the gave Demo and destro vanilla corruption, borderline useless
There’s an addon I use called OPIE, it lets you click a single keybind and open up a “ring” around your mouse cursor and you just click on the ability. Let’s me bind like 8 or so abilities that I don’t use a lot to a single keybind.
My main classes are Restoration druid, restoration shaman, and currently Marksman Hunter.
I don’t know how those three currently compared to anything else but I’m not really finding it to be too complicated because I don’t end up using every single ability in my spellbook or talent anyways.
Some of these abilities seem to be specifically designed for either group content or something because they don’t seem to serve a lot of purpose when I’m running around solo.
So I just don’t put those on my keybinds at all unless I end up running dungeons or something.
I actually like things the way they are for the three classes that I’m playing
For utility.
If you don’t need it take it off your bar.
That way people can pick and choose how they want to play.
I gotta level an enhance shammy so I can see these 40 keybinds
+1 for opie. You can add your top 5 favorite ground / flying mounts with a single keybind and have it take up no extra space on your bars, and you can specifically choose which one of the 5 you happen to be in the mood for.
Same with potions, flasks, augment runes, goin glider, etc.
40 keybinds? What???
Honestly if you are running 40 keybinds that you feel you need to use to be effective I would be considering what abilities you can use with conditionals.
Things like, do you really need a seperate Remove Curse keyind as well as a Purge keybind, or could you just have them be used from the same button press, but activate differently depending on whether you are targetting an enemy or a friend.
Do you really need keybinds for all your buffs like Flametongue/WF weapon/Lightning Shield and if you do can you instead handle them as a cast sequence so they again only need to be the one button etc etc.
I already took it off but what do you mean utility?
That’s only one spell requires the shield and Ret Pally don’t use a shield.
It’s not even on ‘recommended weapons’ at specialization category.
I’m just curious, I mean is there any way that Ret Pally can use shield skill easily? It provides defense so maybe I can use it, but it’s practically impossible.
The spell is not needed for Holy spec either cos it’s purely damage-defense spell and no help in healing. No Holy Power creation, no help in mana or CD or relative healing spells. And! I already took off three Holy-specific spells lol Too many.
You don’t have to have every ability on an important keybind. Some of them can live on other keys, or even just be left unbound entirely.
As for the edge-cases where you’d want them in reach, as others have said, addons like Opie help a ton.
These abilities are meant to be situational. Not everything has to be a DPS gain, or even part of your rotation.
So maybe you have a shield in your backpack and you want to be a little more tanky but don’t want to switch specs for some reason.
Obviously you don’t need to play the game that way but you don’t represent the entirety of the player base. Maybe someone just finds it easier to swap weapons rather than specs in a given circumstance.
that also depends on the class.
disc priest got shadow word death, and they are more dps healer, but shadow word death does not heal. So ok?
Some classes already had a full kit, and we are not even counting the new spells we get at 60 and cov abilities.
BM hunter didn’t get much. DH, DK and Pally are in the same boat, at least in my opinion.
Then…I saw what they did to shaman. Enhancement shaman, specifically.
Just…what? Why? All I could do was stare as my screen in disbelief for a couple minutes as I was attempting to process it all.
Then I won’t be able to use important spells that requires 2H weapon, which is the main weapon for Ret Pally. Do you think people would allow a Ret Pally to use a shield and 1H weapon in dungeons or raids?
I don’t play in that way because the spec is not designed to play in that way. I’m merely saying the spell is beyond useless for Ret Pally.
And I certainly don’t think I represent the entire playerbase.
