Things are a little silly with Torghast right now. Even in patch 9.0 you were more or less able to clear up to the highest floor with relatively okay gear, it just took a bit of gumption and planning. Even at it’s worst, most layers were just a bit frustrating is all: go in, die a few times to get a feel for it, bash your head against the wall until you push through.
As it stands now Torghast cannot be done on layer 12, at least in some zones. Sitting at 220 ilvl, which I would argue is roughly 200 ilvl equivalent in the last patch, Soulforges is practically unbeatable with any amount of reasonability. With all the casters being upwards of 30% more powerful than you, going off the requirement being 30 and power difference roughly equal to 1ilvl=1%, means that pulling through it is like pulling teeth, and it seems I cannot get through a single run without at least one unavoidable pull where there are multiple elites and regular mobs that cannot be separated from each other.
Tone down Torghast. It was not this difficult last patch and even with the transmogs taken into account, which can be easily acquired through layer 9, the level difference is obscene. I should not have to be Mythic-equiped to do something that is a necessary component of gear progression.
Layer 12 is supposed to be difficult. That’s why it has 5 torments, that’s why Blizzard put 252 as the recommended item level.
Earlier today a player posted about 5-starring it at 223, DH. I can assure you they’re not the only one doing so. It can definitely be done, but you can make it easier on yourself by grouping up.
no because it’s awful content that nobody wants to actually put any effort into and blizzard shouldnt have either. they should focus on what makes their game playable instead of trying to focus on garbage island expedition type things every year. waste of time and resources. if u defend torghast ur empty mentally.
It’s fine, we are early into 9.1 with basically old 9.05 gear and only basic levels of torghast research completed. This will get easier as time progresses, people should have expected it to be a cake walk this early on.
The problem is not the difficulty level per se, but how badly balanced it is for different classes. Even the scaling is off.
I went on tuesday evening with a bear friend and we got our butts handed to us, but I went in solo on wednesday morning and managed to 5* both wings (Soulforges took me 3 tries though).
So my answer is don’t nerf Torghast, but buff the underperforming classes.
That said… I don’t think Blizzard intended for it to be beatable by everyone on week 1, but the problems I pointed out (balance and scaling) are a thing.
The biggest problems with Torghast are that it gets exponentially harder if you’re in a group. It’s way easier to solo it. Not fun. And the MASSIVE difference in class power. Some classes do insane damage and some just don’t no matter what they get. It’s really unfair.
Personally I had to make adjustments to clear floors and unlock Adamant Vaults during the run the higher layers I went up doing it solo. Like I don’t think I would get the max score for the time component but I built myself to become more tanky with Triune leggo and going with the defensive route on Kleia’s soulbind. This allows me to pull more while being able to absorb hits. I let the anima powers I pick carry offensively.
Some general advice is to map out how you want to attack the floors. When I am on CD I pull smaller and less dangerous mobs. Off CD I pull big. I know the general layout for most floors and where the exits are so I also plan around when I would have enough for empowerment and time it so I can use it on the most difficult pack.
