NOBODY is farming enough gold legitimately to be able to buy a Token. NOBODY. There’s nobody in the game that is doing that. So, don’t come at me with this fantasy of “truly dedicated players” working hard to earn enough gold in game to be able to buy a boost. That’s not happening. That’s like saying if I work real hard I can have as much money as Elon Musk. No. I can work as hard as humanly possible and I will never have a fraction of what someone like Musk has.
Tokens are for people to buy with real money. Long-time players like Asmongold and other content creators have all spoken against this stuff yet Blizzard feels like it’s ok to keep pushing it on us. I resubbed because I wanted to be part of a community again and this game is familiar to me, even though it has changed a lot since I last played (WoD).
This pay to win garbage needs to stop. I didn’t come back to have to have big daddy Blizzard reach into my wallet and expect me to buy gear to have fun.
Get rid of tokens. Get rid of boosts. Make WoW fun again.
You have no idea. I make enough gold to buy at least 1.5 tokens a month just by playing the game. Doing callings , dailies, using my professions, doing my covenant and mission table and paragon chests. That’s all. I spent 1.2 million on tokens for game time and bliz balance to buy next expansion four weeks ago. I have already made back 600 K of it
Plenty of AH goblins funding their WoW that way. Just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean others can’t. Me personally I don’t play enough nor do I care to. I make enough to keep me in potions and enchants and don’t care past that.
While I think the token system is absolutely stupid for a game that isn’t supposed to be pay to win and also has a sub fee attached, it isn’t difficult to make 200k/month if you’re doing your callings and junk on like 2 characters.
Which honestly isn’t outlandish at all when it comes to farming. They’re pretty quick and easy once you’ve done them enough times.
So far as the auction house is concerned, I wish they’d just merge them all into a single entity. One Auction House to rule them all.
Chart of wow subscribers: Top left, bottom right. 10 years of data. They know it, I know it, you know it. The model now is monetize the remaining base with rmt and provide the 200-300k remaining got gooders with exclusive content. Live with it or get lost.
In terms of killing the game, didn’t Blizzard achieve that mightly just by allowing us to trade with the opposite faction, i.e. between Horde and Alliance. I no longer have to train up characters from one faction, because I am not missing any professions anymore, cos I can suddenly use all my established professions and resources from the other faction. Game over.
Please explain exactly how tokens are “killing” WoW. I see this complaint frequently (especially from followers of specific streamers) but I don’t ever see any clear explanations of how it’s actually “killing” WoW.
No, tokens are not “pay to win,” especially since there is no “winning” in WoW. If you’re buying runs, you’re not winning anything. You’re just paying for the privilege of not playing the game you’re paying for. That’s just stupid.
I personally haven’t bothered with boosts (I have four unused ones sitting on my login screen) but again, I don’t see how they ruin my game if someone else boosts a character. Either they learn how to play or they don’t. I know lots of folks who level their characters from 1-60 and still can’t play them.
So, tell me: what specific effects do the tokens and boosts have on WOW that are “killing” it. Because, honestly, I think lackluster expansions have done a far greater job of killing WoW than either of those things.
i assure you that making gold for tokens is very easy when you’re at my skill level. i wonder what credit card i have plugged in my account. is it the one i had in high school?
Naaa, you can still make plenty of gold to get your character where it needs to be. However, it’s nice to have a fall back plan if I don’t feel like farming and I have an extra 20 bucks to burn. Which hasn’t happened this expansion, friends are really nice to have in shadowlands. But if others burn money to gear up for every season, more money to support the game I like to play doesn’t sound like a bad thing. If a player is bad, all the gear out there won’t help.
If they would put a specific tab for this in the group finder and THAT TAB was the only place advertisements could be posted, so be it. Boosting has been around for a long time, it’s not going to stop.
