you got a good point but even if it’s 2023 there are always a poor people who’s gonna sacrifice any amount of gold to avoid paying real money for sub.
they can easily earn thousands of gold from gdkp while they can’t obtain 15$ if they live in a country with fail currency.
NOTE that few months ago you could easily buy 35k gold for 20$ from black markets in WotlkC 2023

I cough HEARD that there are guilds you buy from where you get invited so you can withdraw what you buy from the gbank. GL banning that.

that’s true, many gold buyers in past 4years of classic never got banned.
But it is still a risk if you buy from 3rd party sites.
Could you imagine if they removed 95% of the gold expenses in the game and gate kept the item with a quest.
Group Quest Chains to unlock
- Riding skills
- Mounts
- Dual Spec
- Flying skill
- Flying mounts
- Pre-Raid BiS
- Raid items that upgrade and the upgrade is unlocked with a quest that can’t be bought off with gold. (Unlike Rhok’delar in classic)
If they made group adventures the mechanism or the currency the game would not have RMT or RMTokens.

In retail the token shot up in price. I think it’s because we know wrath will end so there is only a limited need for gametime, unlike on retail where people didn’t know what was coming so they just kept buying it.
Every expansion ends. Except for Classic Era! Wow; it’s the only permanently stable patch in all of WoW’s history!

idk? For me, I’m planning on buying some tokens for gametime with gold to support a second account, but that’s a personal preference.

How easy is it to make 5k in Classic? Might be worth looking into doing that to pay my sub instead of dumping almost 300k in Retail.
I’m absolutely playing cata and you should too! I just think realistically the general consensus is that most will stop after wrath.

It’s not really surprising at all, considering the demographics of the average wow classic player.
Classic players are pretty old, I dare say adults, many of whom have professional jobs and a busy schedule. Good salary and little time means one hour of your time has a lot of value.
Let’s take a fairly low figure of 20 dollars an hour. In one hour of work you could buy 5k gold….could you farm 5k in one hour? Maybe GDKP, but I’d say most people don’t do that. It’s still the path of least resistance that is risk free.
Personally I don’t like the wow token and it was a huge mistake the bring it into classic, but it’s not hard to understand how it is currently valued.

Wrath was one of the best expansions of wow, and got launched with bad data and stupid adjustments …Cata is by consensus, the tipping point of bad wow expansions, and then we’ll get even more terrible adjustments.
Cata+ is gonna be atrocious. I’m hoping they just stop at Cata and restart the trilogy.

Assuming you dont participate in GDKP, one week of dailies (especially dungeon dailies which is like 110gps between the three) on a single character will get you close to 5k.
If you do GDKP, one or two raids (on average).
Huh. So, unironically, you can pay for a sub by doing dailies in Wrath Classic, whereas in Retail you have to be an Auction House gremlin to achieve the same result.
