That’s what people were told during wod. But there were no raids in wod using personal loot, aside from the ones that started as personal loot but were switched during the raid by the raid leader when they got to the boss his buddy’s item was going to drop off.
This might work out okay. Restrictions intended to micromanage world first raiders before usually have ramifications that extend to the playerbase at large. They certainly did in this tier.
Okay so MAYBE everyone just preferred master loot in guild settings?
Like, what the heck are we doing here lmao. If all this abuse was still happening, people WOULDN’T use masterloot. But like you say, everyone was. So???

Why can you just…not join those guilds that abused master loot? Once you found out what they were about why did you stick around? Are there even rational thoughts going through your head at all?
I will never understand the mindset of people that voluntarily put themselves into a situation where they’re taken advantage of and cry victim yet refuse to remove themselves from the situation. Instead your response is to advocate for the removal of the freedoms of others so that some higher authority can protect you from the bad things.
I truly believe those who value personal safety over liberty are mentally broken in some way. Even in a video game I can’t escape you people.

I’m glad they made it an option for raids.

They did. Or at least the raid leader did.
And the pug raids were started by ninja looters. So there really were no options back then, but all the forum posters kept telling people who had gotten ripped off by lying ninja raid leaders to “just do personal loot pug raids”.
This was compounded by the fact that even though personal loot in raids meant more pieces of loot dropped, players were constantly being told it was less.
I don’t think we have enough information at this point for you to declare victory. In fact, you guys have been blanketing every ML thread with posts telling people that what was coming was going to be EXACTLY like what ML used to be.
…what? As soon as ML was taken away from pug groups, all of these problems were fixed. Personal loot had to be used by pugs. The initial integration allowed guilds to still use ML and it was awesome. Pugs got what they wanted and guilds got to keep the system that worked for them. If a guild wanted to use PL, they could.
Players don’t join guilds with raid leaders they don’t like. If all this abuse was happening in a guild, the guild would die. it is VERY easy to find a new guild and has been for a while; finding good raiders is hard.
I think a big problem is when people join a guild group and assume that the loot is theirs. If you join a guild group that has their own loot rules, the loot that drops belongs to the guild. Not the individual. Many of the posters here on GD simply don’t follow that philosophy despite still trying to force their way into those groups and would always assume the loot should be theirs.
Some of the greediest people I’ve ever encountered frequent these forums, so it makes sense they’d be confrontational when they don’t get an item they want.
I’ve only been in this thread so idk what your last paragraph was about. I avoid this place more often than not because of how angsty people are towards raiders here lol
As long as it’s just an option for folks I’m okay with it, but I won’t be signing up for pug runs that are using this method, you can count on that. Hopefully the folks that feel they need this don’t try and bring in pugs, they will be waiting a long time to fill slots. As it is I can count on at least one piece of loot that will drop for my spec on raid night, that I can choose to trade if I wish. moving to this system means I could realistically go weeks before I see a piece I need or want.
TODAY IS A BAD DAY!
elitest try hards will start the wow classic trend of turning all pugs into a RESERVE ALL LOOT FOR MEMEMEMEMEMEME!

damn it’s actually crazy that you’re forced to join those exact pug groups. super unlucky.
(that’s also not at all how this loot system will work, btw)
Better for YOU. For a lot of people this is going decentivize raiding … myself included. I’ve never been one to harp on the “making decisions for 2% of players” but this is ONLY going to benefit those people who get the benefit of running in an organized group of players who aren’t prone to raging when they lose out for the 3rd week in a row on that piece of gear they’ve been trying to get.
Gods I might just need to give up on the game soon. The dev team continues to just take a giant crap on any feedback by not actually listening so they can put their spin on it.

have you not played classic? there isn’t a single MS/OS pug anymore… it’s all loot reserved/GDKP’s

It’s simply falling backwards without addressing the problems with the original Master loot system. That problem being raid leaders using ever shifting goalposts to funnel loot to specific places. Also, the problem with Blizzards balancing randomly making specific spec’s suck with randomized un-disclosed math re-works. Compounded by the problem of ugly loot boxes and no more coin rolls to split the difference.
Why is it now fashionable to move backwards onto systems we threw away for a good reason? And without even adjusting the new version to avoid the obvious problems.
(facepalm)

all it’s doing is taking the roll that happens when the boss dies and is putting it on your screen when the boss gets looted. nothing changes about how “lucky” you can get.
I don’t think that’s what they are saying, I fear the same thing in that trying to pug into a boss that you need a piece from in groups that use this system will simply add a layer to getting that peice that I for one am not looking forward to.
except when you do get lucky and the leader NINJA’s your item and quits the raid.
master looter was never a good system to have allowed in pugs.
how can you reserve loot with this current system?
ninja’ing an item isn’t even possible with this group loot because you can simply just click “roll” and then it’s up to the dice?
why is everyone confused here? this isn’t masterlooter lmao, and not a single person in this thread has suggested ML return to pugs
Group loot is where like 4 items drop on the boss and you can roll need, greed or pass.
… what?
It’s going to change it from “you yourself have a %chance to loot a piece of the boss” which with BLP still means at some point you’re going to get something to “you now how to roll higher than how many other people to get the piece you want.” It makes the odds exponentially worse that you’re going to get gear at all.
If you have a chance to get 2-3 pieces guaranteed off say 10 bosses, now … dependent on a loot councils rules or dkp or whatever … be lucky enough to win 1-2 rolls OR … if in a pug … potentially lose all of them (if luck isn’t on your side).
We’ll also have the return of “forming group for raid but all cloth gear goes to me runs” cause the RL will have total control over the loot.
… the more I talk about it, the less I even want to think about raiding in Dragonflight.
GREAT needs 400 item lvl weapon for transmog and disenchants it and watches a mage cry who has a blue dungeon weapon.
personal loot is the most fair system for pugs, and should be the required default. If you have a 100% guild run with no pugs… sure do what you want with your loot. anyone with half a brain will knows this is going to be abused hard because it is currently in classic.
Because a number isn’t the only means of determining an upgrade and not being able to help your friends under any circumstance is counter intuitive to the idea of group content.
If something drops for me, has bad stats, but is a 5 item level upgrade, I don’t want this! Especially if my buddy who the stats are good for can get a 20 or 30 item level upgrade from it. Why on God’s green earth would I want to keep this from him? And the fact the game prevents me from helping him is asinine.
