First of all, this is actually funny. I laughed at this, but it is definitely happening much more than any other time I’ve played the game. I get declined when I overreach, or maybe they need a lust, etc. But today was a real head scratcher I felt like I had to share.
For context, I was on this character this time. I’m 660 equipped, something like 2640 with all 10s two chested but one or two. I was applying for a priory 10, which I definitely do have two chested on this character.
The guy let me sit there for quite some time, so eventually I got curious and asked him “are we hard picking meta only for 10s now, or what?” He eventually responded that holy paladins suck. I responded that he wouldn’t notice the difference in a 10 with any healing spec in the game. He responded, “disc >” and ignored me lol.
So I am proficient in every healing class in the game other than evoker. I’m not a fan of disc personally, but have played a ton of holy priest and understand how disc works. I understand basically all healer strengths and weaknesses, and how they interact with other classes, and ultimately what makes meta the meta. But I have a newsflash for you: it’s almost never the same reason you think you’re getting when you pick that class for your weekly vault keys, or even relatively high pug keys.
For those of you who don’t understand, I’ll explain disc priest and why it’s actually a very weak choice for your pug keys. Disc priest is a burst healer that can do high group wide hps in very predictable healing events. If the priest has studied the dungeons, this is great. What this absolutely does not account for, is mistakes. Do you play flawlessly? Does anything ever happen unexpectedly in your keys? Ever get lay on hande or cocoon cast on you? Ever have boss fights drag on a little bit longer than perhaps you wish they did? Guys missing any kicks or stops outside of the priests squid window? If you answered yes or maybe to any of these questions, the disc priest is actually the worst healer in the game for you.
Well, they probably have had bad experiences with hpals and your snarky message as their first impression of you likely didn’t help. How you say things matter…but maybe that didn’t matter. Maybe it was a progression key for them that they really wanted to time…I’ve been denied healing a +6 with 3k IO…it happens.
it seems like you take not being instantly getting accepted personally and then go on to harass people about it. and then make another dumb forum post about it. you shouldn’t be allowed to play the game at all until you sort yourself out.
Unfortunately, too many players think meta is the only way to go. They don’t think for themselves and only do what they see streamers doing.
That all being said, I typically don’t invite people who whisper me expecting to be picked. Fortunately, once you get declined from a group you can no longer reapply to it or right click and message the party leader.
honestly i will never understand ppl who play for meta, Are you so bad at ur class that you cant fathom the idea of just practicing it within all situations and developing as a player? must you also have a patch on easymode and with something more Overpowered than the others? Like really, how bad does someone gotta be to need everything to be perfect, Like if you arent in one of the top guilds in the game or being paid to play meta for world first, i cant see the reasoning behind begging for meta on a 10 key. Trial and error is the route and if you feel your time was wasted for someone or yourself not being meta than maybe thats just a skill issue and completely irrelevant to spec design. Granted i can acknowledge declining a spec that performs terribly or not picking up an aug because it performs bad in some content or maybe a spec doesnt have any tools that helps the group, but outside of that not really lol anyways ya i feel for u bro cause that sounds mad annoying and cringe
Friends wants to participate in the MDI (and before the matches that are broadcast) and seeing if you and 4 others can actually pull off the ‘large meta comp’ high pulls it makes sense to try the class.
But in PuGs? No point. You’re far better off with something that has a strong natural utility like Protection Paladin cause even if you aren’t actively pressing ints, you’ll be useful from your rotation alone.
Yeah, it was fun playing RDruid until I started doing 10s a few weeks back. It went from being easy to get into keys to all the sudden having a hard time getting into a group. It’s stupid too, I’ve timed everything at a 10 except like 2 or 3 dungeons. And Rdruid isn’t even bad this season, it’s actually really good. But people are so fixated on Disc / MW.
It’s also stupid because it’s a 10. Like it’s not that hard, but you have these (usually bad) players who think meta will carry them in mid content.
Anyways I decided to take a break and gear an alt for a bit.
