I really don’t think we can consider animals as “merely animals”. You see, animals from the same class often share a lot of traits.
In this case, a cat is quite capable of feeling complex emotions, empathy and even develop strong interspecie relationships (Often with us humans) and the same can said about most mammals and birds. Cats, dogs, tigers, rats, elephants, and all other mammals have the potential to befriend a human and even consider said human part of their pack or family group.
Meanwhile, animals like reptiles, amphibians and fish lack the power to feel empathy and develop relationships like mammals and birds do.
In short, you can’t really put a cat in the same category as a fruit fly or a crocodile.

4 rats(our oldest daughter’s)

We love our pets and they are very much a part of our family. 
Yeah our oldest cat is named Ares. He is my shadow and lap warmer. We are only guessing at his age because he was a tnr fail. He came back after release but had a swollen foot from a fight. Took him back to the vet and after living with use through rounds of antibiotics he decided he didn’t want to go back outdoors. I will be lost when his time comes.

I’m so sorry for your loss.
I still get upset when thinking about some of my friends I’ve had to put down. They were great companions which helped me through some rough times.

I came from a family that showed dogs professionally The pain you felt when you sold them was hard enough after you spent all that time playing with them as puppies. Watching them pass away was even worse I spent so many days crying over some of the dogs we had cause each one was more beautiful and friendly and non judgemental.
Something many humans lack as evident by that guild and the harmful people in it. I hope things get easier for you and they will in time but try to remember all the love and friendship your cat gave to you. It helped me get thru my dark days and it will help you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. I am very sorry for your loss. I know your beloved cat will be dearly missed and was very fortunate to have someone who cares so deeply.

Ayzlin, I took my 11 year old best friend in for a routine checkup which turned out to be an emergency he was hiding. He was going into renal failure so they had to do emergency surgery. And he died on the table. Just typing it makes me cry. I miss him so much and I feel so guilty about the way he died. Just know that not everyone online is an ahole and many of us know exactly what you’re feeling right now because we feel it too.

I grew up in the 60 and 70 when people actually cared and were kind and polite. Where manners were accepted as the norm. When someone passed away everyone gathered and honored them. It never mattered who we were.
everyone knew we raised championship dogs I was the little girl who grew into a teenager who didn’t get to do alot of things cause I was helping with the dogs . And many times when I sat in my room crying they would come in and sit next to me as if to apologize.
To me that is a animal that is thinking of others. Yes most people upset me cause they no longer show feeling or concern for others just themselves.
I hope you one day realize we all need love and companionship.

I would say the majority of strays we’ve taken in have been black cats, not sure if it’s just a coincidence or what but it’s always seemed like people actually believe the superstitions and don’t want them. 
Those 3 are from a litter of 4, all black, and their momma is also black.

Which is really pathetic first of all and also such a shame. The best cat I ever had, mentioned in a previous comment, was black. I’ll never forget him. He was my best friend.

We had something similar happen late last year, one of our long hairs was acting sick so we took him in to the vet, before they could even get x-rays done they said he suddenly howled in his enclosure and passed right there. He had a blockage of hair. He was one of my mom’s favorites, that tore her up for months that he died alone at the vet. It wasn’t your fault, there’s only so much we can do.

People with unhealthy attitudes towards animals, like hurting them for fun, not caring about them at all, etc tend to be serial killers, murderers, rapists, etc. So beware when you encounter these types because they’re gonna eat you and not the way you want to be eaten.
