This is purely just a small request, nothing more, nothing less.
The US is in shambles right now and a lot of us want to escape into WoW to forget it all, the constant negativity and everything just making lives worse.
Can we please not discuss politics every 5 seconds in trade chat? Yes I can ‘turn it off’ but I also sell my services as an Enchanter and Scribe, so I also need it.
You don’t go to vacation spots and ruin it for everyone there, do you?

Why does someone pointing out injustice exists annoy you?
Why does someone asking for improvement in this disaster world annoy you?
Why does someone challenging a broken status quo annoy you?
Acknowledging a problem is easy, doesnt take effort or you doing anything, nobody asked you to go out to protest or to start arguing, it is almost as if you dont want to acknowledge something is wrong and move on and instead live in some fantasy land where everything is fine.

Seriously, the fact that so many people simply cant SCROLL PAST something they dont want to talk about and instead start whining AND DEMAND CENSORSHIP about “PoLiTiCs BaD” says a lot about them as people.
The people who are discussing politics and other hot button topics on your server are not reading this. And even if they were, they probably wouldn’t stop. So this is kind of pointless.

That is a quite common excuse some groups use to always avoid talking about actual issues.
Even ignoring that, my point was the fact that whenever you dont want to bother with talking about the injustice in this world, be it here, twitter, facebook or whatever, YOU CAN SCROLL PAST IT.
Most mouses have a scroll function.
See something you dont like? Keep scrolling instead of posting about how it should be removed and censored because you dont like people ever mention we live in a world full of injustice.
Because I keep seeing it and being reminded everything sucks.
So why not extend your anger to people who go on vacation, what, aren’t they privy to the information?
While I agree that indeed I too play this game for the intents of escaping the RL I understand it is also a medium upon which people find a safe place to put their thoughts.

Plus the political banter in trade is hardly what I would call deep, constructive conversations. It is people spitting slogans and sounds bites back and forth in between insults.
Personally I turn trade off when it begins.

I know that truth yet I am still able to play wow, read beastars and have fun, knowing that doesnt mean you have to spend all your time protesting, spamming links in social media or doing something actively. It takes 0 effort to retweet something or agree about the existence of a systematic problem.
Nobody asked you to do anything other than acknowledge the problem, but instead people going “pws no Pawitics, onwy fun uwu” you are pushing towards ignorance and refusal to acknowledge said problems which is quite a counter fixing problems attitude.
it seems to me that many people like that feel bad because if they admit the world is bad, they might have to actually do something about it else they are bad people, yet nobody asked you to do anything other than acknowledge it.
Based on historical examples, that attitude only results in what we are seeing now. Because that crowd only happens to find time when it fits them and always results in never solving the actual problem.
Though I am talking about human behavior in general irl, not something as silly as trade trolls.
That is exactly how I feel about it. I get understanding and fighting for injustice and everything, but it doesn’t have to be 24/7. Can we not have that little bit of happiness just for once instead of having people constantly remind us that the world is on fire?
And what you just said is a common excuse to talk about it everywhere.
It doesn’t need to be talked about everywhere. We deserve one or two places where we can be free of it. Let our hobby be one of those places.

You can easily ignore trade or silly talk in any game, nobody is forcing your eyes open to watch a video of police brutality or something, and even if you find a video on twitter you can just scroll by it.
Demanding censorship because “they deserve to hide from reality” and because they cant do the above is beyond silly.
Nobody is “demanding” anything here, you waffle. They’re making a request with a please and cherry on top because they’re sick of trade chat being used for anything but trade. I know their request was going to fall on deaf ears, nobody will be swayed, but the way you’re just getting on your soap box to go on a self-righteous rant as if you know her position is, quite honestly, pathetic. For all you know, the OP is on your side, maybe they’re not. But the people actually wanting to talk or do anything about those issues are on the streets, in the news rooms or in forums that are dedicated to politics.
Besides, I actually play on Moon Guard, there’s nothing constructive going on in any of those “discussions” except for Holocaust jokes and edgy comments.
I am on their side, but I don’t have the endurance to constantly be fighting everything 24/7. I don’t mind menial chat and such, but I don’t get why people have to constantly yell political epithets to one another. There’s Facebook, there’s Twitter, Reddit, etc.
We escape to WoW because we KNOW things are bad, I know people who are out there, fighting for this, but even they deserve a break too. Don’t WE deserve a break from it too instead of having people yell at us for just wanting to rest?
