To those upset about UI and Talent Tree Changes

We’ve known about these changes for months and have had time to test them on the PTR. So why was yesterday evening so shocking?

Edited to add:

For those confused about the UI, here is a helpful guide

No one pays attention until they go live

That’s on them. Its been talked about around here and on the net forever.

Just remember that these are the same people who will simply look at a guide for the best talents and copy paste other’s ui decisions.

Not everyone tries the PTR.
Not everyone comes to these forums
Not everyone researches things.

Yes, I’m one of these people. I only come here when I can’t log into the game. I never opt into the betas cause I still like the surprise of the new content.

These were features touted during the DF reveal event.

Exactly! I highly doubt the DF reveal was not seen by anyone with interest in WOW.

I’ve always been against the talent tree.

The new user interface is fine although I would really like the ability to expand or shrink any of the bars not just some of the bars.

but as far as the talent tree goes it’s just Blizzard trying to placate people that don’t actually know what they want.

now instead of actual choice we have a bucket full of unconsequential nonsense choices.

maybe I was lucky because I’ve been playing a restoration druid since wrath but the talent choices that were available to me since mists have always been somewhat competitive and you could play around with the options to fit your playstyle…

now we have clear choices that are better and a million points to spend on stuff that doesn’t even matter.

I guess maybe getting a 2% armor buff every other level is what people want from an MMO but I want actual different play styles that are viable.

Casual players avoid these forums like the plague, and only come here when they have specific problems. I don’t think they are upset some much as they are at sea, and are trying to figure what changes they are being required to make. personally, I think it will take me about week (maybe more) to figure out what’s going on. But the servers are down, and I have nothing better to do (hopefully the powers that be will able to put a timetable on their maintenance repairs).

The nonsense choices existed with the three tiered thing they were doing before, though. At least the trees offer more choices, even if some of them are just as useless as before.

The talents are fine, but I definitely didn’t know they were going to take the UI out back and machete it to death.

But before, each of your choices was independent. Now my hunter needs to take Steady Focus, not because I like Steady Focus (I don’t really care about it either way) but because I need it to take Trueshot.

When you list out the talents that you’re actually interested in and look at their connections, you don’t have nearly as many choices as it looks. A lot of them lock you into other requirements.

Regarding the UI we were led to believe there would be a “classic option” - just moving the elements to similar spots is in fact not a “classic option”. I personally did go on the ptr and when I found no options to retain the look of the old UI, ie how the unit frames look (player, target, focus etc), how the minimap looks etc I’ve been making posts, here, Twitter and via in-game suggestion box.
Shouldn’t really be that big of a surprise that some of us really dislike a new look considering we’re still playing this game after how many years? :joy:

That’s true, but at least now you’re not choosing between AotB and Bloodshed, right?

You didnt need to do deep research to know that a new expansion was right around the corner and what its new features were.

I literally skimmed through a YouTube video and knew what to expect. It’s ridiculous.

maybe because some of us enjoy surprises and don’t play on the ptr. i was honestly surprised when i logged on last night to take a glimpse at what all the hoopla’s about- spent about 10min online and logged back off.

i’ll just deal with the mess when i start my unisex dragon in 2 weeks.
