Some people do, some people want to set goals and push themselves to achieve them. People enjoy different things, some people even do relax by enjoying a challenge they’ve set for themselves.
That list is not a set of goals. It is a deterrence list ![]()
So what you are saying you would rather do these difficulties with pugs because its more challenging and relaxing than with friends ? ![]()
Not necessarily. I don’t find playing with friends relaxing either because we play at a level that challenges us, we fail a lot but we learn grow and improve and enjoy doing that together. I do other things to relax.
If people don’t have consistent friends that play a level they themselves find a challenge, they may have to find that challenge elsewhere. I’m lucky I have people I play this game with that are capable of doing 26-27s, and we enjoy doing them together. For the vast majority that’s not necessarily the case, even for lower levels like 22-23s
Well it’s advice to someone who wants the path of least resistance in a pug environment. It’s also not all that much when you think about it.
-
Vet individuals you play with on emotional intelligence / intentions as well as past performance.
-
Understand some dungeons / affix combos are a real challenge and failure isnt an unlikely outcome for a run.
-
If you’re applying to groups try to make sure you’re desirable to the group leader, either because of your experience, spec, gear, or in some cases attitude / intentions. If you choose to / due to circumstances can’t provide one of these things, try to emphasise or focus on the others.
-
Do no harm but take no ish.
Honestly it’s pretty good advice for finding consistent players to push with too.
The challenging part I will agree as its more difficult with pugs maybe even impossible at what level you want to play at ,but the relaxing part ,I can’t agree that you will have a better time doing that lvl with pugs than with friends .
I am not against his list. Infact his list is good its scares ppl from pugging . Which is why I told him to relax ![]()
Probably the biggest key to timing keys right there. DPS not kicking what needs kicked/stunning what needs stunned then screaming to pull bigger.
this is very true. staying ahead of the curve helps a lot if you’re pugging. otherwise you need to make friends!
It’s worth also mentioning there are multiple curves / elo hells across the mythic+ rating spectrum. Mainly between / just above major gearing breakpoints.
I don’t have a better time pugging, definitely not, and there are pugs here and there doing keys of that level but they’re still far more coordinated than your average pug in a sub 20. My point was more that I don’t play keys to relax at all ![]()
Once I hit +15s on my main, progression definitely started to slow down significantly.
What helped the most was every time I pugged, I’d try to friend as many “good players” as possible (AKA: network). Now every time I go to do anything higher than a 15, I either utilize my network or the m+ disc server.
For me, I just ignore the level of the key and try to do the mechanics correctly and maximize dps. Simple really. Basically a mind over matter thing…if you don’t mind it, it doesn’t matter.
ksm isn’t really anything difficult I mean I even have that
I pugged all my portals like a month ago now-- idk, there were some bad runs, but I just kept at it. It wasn’t that bad.
Probably by not pugging them. Guilds and friends seem to be something that people on these forums have never heard of.
A few things.
- This season is harder than others due to the new scaling after 10+.
- The seasonal affix is a kiss-curse that is mostly just curse. The buff doesn’t last very long and you often have to clear early (play it safe) due to overlap with base affixes.
- 20 is the new floor not 15.
- 17-19 is the new dead key range (everyone wants max rewards at 20)
- Pug community is more fragmented now - a 20 key spread vs. a 15 key spread (unless you sleep through the run - it is realistically more like 12-20 vs. 12-15 previously).
Group make up. and DPS that can pump out more than 70K
wow made easy, it’s a discord server. Join that and you’ll find amazing groups, only way to go outside of a guild.
Lot of good advice/positivity in this thread. Feels good.
Its really not, i can get it this week if i had a group… like last night these 3 people killed my 13 key cuz they where drunk, rogue dying to every avoidable mechanic and doing auto attack dmg
Ive only timed a total of 40ish keys this season. pugged a 17 AA my eyes have a hard time to see what to heal with these massive trash pulls, very difficult to not die. dont know how people do 20+
foragers and skitterflys charging my face & thundering & spiteful kite & grievous & its just too much
If you’re in a 20+ key you’re probably not playing 4fun and relaxing - you’re pushing and trying to get vault rewards/specific drops.
If you’re in a +5? Sure.
Maybe you should revisit the entire thread to understand the point/purpose of this: pushing higher keys, not casual LFR gameplay.
