How long did Nakk the Thunderer take for you to see up and eventually obtain the mount from?
Is it still something sought by a large number of people given the very long spawn timer?
I think it’s a 10 or 15 min spawn timer.
That’s not so bad.
I got it first kill after they increased drop rate. I only killed it about 40 times in total over the years I imagine.
I didn’t make a big deal of those rares since they’re not exciting enough to camp for. I just got them all a few months ago figuring the areas aren’t heavily occupied anymore so odds were good if I flew over their spawn areas they would be up. And for the most part they were. I’d do a lap and usually get one of them. On one lap I think I got two. Only took a few trips to get them all.
I completely forgot they increased the drop rate. Thanks for reminding me, I should start farming for the MoP World Bosses mounts.
You are thinking of Nalak, not Nakk.
Nakk is the dude in Nagrand in WoD, which hasn’t changed since WoD and can still be hours before being seen.
Just swap WM on and off, than find someone (or use a second trial account) to phase yourself into Chromie Time and go again WM on and off until you find it.

oh yes I am sorry - yeah I got Nakk back in WoD. That was the only expansion I got all the world mounts when it was current content.
Pretty sure you can farm those just making a trial character on a dead RP server as well. I think those stay up until someone kills them so you might make a character and it will just be sitting there.
i mean, i don’t have it - its the only WoD rarespawn I’m missing - but i’m also not really looking for it as I think it’s very ugly. 
Only Luk’hok can be obtained with trial characters, I think they forgot to turn that one off, the rest need a real character.
when did they change that - I farmed a lot of MoP mounts that way a few years ago.
There is a list floating around you can find on the secret finding discord, the WoW secrets website, probably nestled amongst hundreds of Wowhead posts, they list what can and cannot be obtained with trials.
It’s no doubt changed over the years, but this is the current important information, you can just assume any rare that is a guaranteed or RNG mount drop that is not included in this list needs a real character:
Mounts obtainable using class trials:
- Garrison Raid Bosses
- Grey Riding Camel
- Long-Forgotten Hippogryph
- Luk’hok
- Voidtalon
- Frightened Kodo
- Soundless
- Mechagon Rares
- Sundancer
that is extremely odd that they would make some able to and not others. What is the problem you can’t loot the mounts or what?
I kinda gave up on Nakk’s mount…as every time I went to try for it there is so many people camping the spawn my computer would lag some days. I do still try for raven lord and white hawkstrider though…sadly even those elude me still
I’m just guessing here because I doubt anyone actually knows, but it might be they missed some, like one of the WoD rares can get a mount on a trial, the rest can’t, that makes no sense. But than you can get the Kodo on a trial also, which you can get in like 5 minutes if you know what to do.
Or there is a reason we don’t know, honestly who knows what is going on, but on a trial if you go for one that you can’t get, you just don’t get it.

it sounds to me more like a bug in that if they weren’t going to allow you to get them on trial it would be more obvious than you just don’t get it.
I have always camped Sha of Anger for years and years as that was my favorite MoP mount, so I was very happy to get it a few weeks after they upped our chances.
Nalak took about a month and a half of going with two alts before I finally got him.
I don’t care as much for Galleon so only have one alt there, and have two sitting at Oondasta, but no luck there yet.
I wasn’t even aware of Nakk, lol, maybe because I don’t love those mounts, but I miiiiight have to send an alt to WoD for that one…hmmmm
Nakk is just one of the rares per zone in WoD that is a guaranteed mount on kill, since it’s so easy to get if you know how no one really sees those as rare or unique.

Still gave up on it as the spawns don’t last more than two seconds and people may as well have bots sitting there farming kills of the boss for them as it’s not just him but every world raid boss in pandaria and elsewhere that drops a mount has a cluster of folk camping for hours on end. What’s the point anymore if even if I land at the spot and wait the mob dies before my character can even touch the mob let alone see it so I don’t get to loot it and thus it’s a waste of time
Nice, thanks! I have a few of the other rare mounts from WoD, just didn’t know of that one, probably because I never cared to look into it, but as someone who loves mounts, I’ll have to send someone there. 
Not really, it’s more people that are just flying past will see them up and kill them, especially if you know the tricks to finding them easier, like going outside peak, or using Chromie Time for some, shard hoping, server hoping, there is a lot you can do to up your chances.
